I haven't written in a while, other than tweets, so here some stuff:
One of my old guys at my rink goaded me into betting the World Series with him. (I already owe him ten dollars from betting the Sox, so I had to earn it back.) I picked the Yankees. Yes, you read that right. Yes, I am properly ashamed. But I just hate Philly so much.
The Center Ice preview ended Sunday and I missed the Rangers, Coyotes game and I'm in serious hockey withdrawal. It's not helping my sanity.
1. Your Favorite Team(s) Growing Up: Boston Bruins. To the extent that no other team existed.
2a. Your Most Hated Team(s) Growing Up: Montreal Canadiens.
2b. Most hated teams now: Philadelphia Flyers, Montreal Canadiens.
3. Best NHL Rivalry in your opinion: I would have to say it's still the Bruins, Canadiens. It's sad that the Red Wings, Avalanche feud is all but gone.
4. Favorite All-Time Player: Scott Stevens.
5. Best Fans in the NHL Besides the Team you root for: I like the fans that stick with their small market teams, Lightning, Thrashers, Coyotes, Predators, etc.
6. Worst Fans in the NHL: Bandwagoners. *shudders* As for real fans, lately it's been Penguins fans.
(For the next three questions: It does say 'start your team', not 'start your game', so I don't have to worry about having a good face-off man at center. And I'm going to assume they mean current and as in build my team around.)
7. 3 Forwards you would start your team with: Jason Arnott, Paul Kariya and Marc Savard.
8. 2 Defensemen you would start your team with: Sheldon Souray and Chris Pronger.
9. Goalie you would start your team with: Tim Thomas.
10. Most Overrated Player in the NHL: Alexander Ovechkin, by a thousand miles. Following behind him, Mike Green.
11. Arena you want to go and see a game in: The Meadowlands. (Yes, as in I want to time travel to see them play in their proper home, shuddup.)
12. Best All-Time Hockey Jersey: Bruins, white. Either this current one, or the jersey just before. The only difference is the outline of the spokes and the B. The Oilers' Todd McFarlane third is a close second.
13. Best Current Hockey Jersey: That would be the same answer as twelve.
14. Worst All-Time Jersey: The easy answer is the seizure-inducing Canadiens jersey, but I'm going to go with the gold and purple Kings, because they wore them for so long and those colours do not go together.
15. Team(s) you root for when your team isn't playing: New Jersey Devils, Detroit Red Wings, Tampa Bay Lightning, Nashville Predators. (Also, Phoenix Coyotes, Atlanta Thrashers, New York Rangers, Anaheim Ducks, Los Angeles Kings and lately the St Louis Blues, when they're not playing one of the above.)
16. Is there a place for fighting in the NHL Anymore?: Of course, when done right.
17. Most Dominant Player in the Game Today: Zach Parise. And after I typed that, I wasn't all that sure why I did. Not that he's not very good and so much fun to watch AND a team player, but I didn't know I thought so highly of him. But I'm going to go with it.
18. Most entertaining Player in the Game Today: Daniel Carcillo. Yes, that's biased. So?
19. Player that you would most like to take to lunch: Scott Niedermayer.
20. Your favourite player currently: Jason Arnott.
21. Best Forward: 'Best' is much too relative for forwards. Best goal scorer, best defencive forward, best set-up, best face-off, etc. And those aren't the same player. There is no one 'best' because the forward position is far too diverse, too many different roles with different players good at each thing.
22. Best Defenceman: This is a little more concrete. Yes, you can have defencive and offencive defencemen, but as well know, I hate that. So I'm going to say Sheldon Souray.
23. Best Goalie: Tim Thomas.
24. Who will win the cup in 2010: We'll see, won't we?
25. Stanley Cup Finalist: We'll see. I don't predict.
26. Best Coach: Claude Julien. And the academy said so too.
27. Best GM: Lou Lamarillo.
28. Best Rookie going into 2009-10: It's much too early to tell.

29. Favourite player on your favourite team: Marc Savard. Tim Thomas is a close second.

31. Best forward: Marc Savard. Mark Recchi is a close second.

33. How would you rate goaltending: Timmy is very strong, and if he could play 82 games, it'd be perfect. Rask hasn't proven himself enough yet. We'll see.
34. How would you rate your coaching: He knows how to play the right system for the players we have and he's added our new players in seamlessly.
35. Your favourite memory: The first time I sat at the glass.
36. Most hated player on your team: I suppose Chara or maybe Shawn Thornton. Someone that puts the other team down and keeps him down. We don't really have someone that has lots of publicised hatred ala Todd Bertuzzi or Darcy Tucker.
