Though he knew that they would come back soon after promotions, he couldn’t help but feel moody about it. He was in the schedule van, on his way back from the last schedule for the day. His face was still covered in makeup because it was viewable radio that night and everyone knows how big of a number of pixels a DSLR camera’s picture was; his dark circles from all the sleepless nights and freckle would be easily seen without makeup.
At least his hair was left untouched, covered by a beanie. He washed it before going on radio and now he could sleep with clean hair for once. Styled hair full of hair products reminded him of his roommate who would put a towel on his pillow before lying down because he didn’t want to cause extra work for the house cleaner aunty. How he missed the said roommate of his, he made a mental note to self that he would call the member later.
Leeteuk shut his eyes tighter, trying to fall asleep while on his way back to the dorm, he could get an extra half an hour if he slept in the car. A recording was scheduled early in the morning the next day and that meant he would need to wake up at least two hours earlier to get his hair and makeup done. A sigh slowly escaped the lips of the leader who said the reason why it rained so heavily the day he was born was because heaven sent down an Angel.
Right on cue, it started raining out. The raindrops created a serene surrounding along the ride besides the soft hum of the engine.
Leeteuk had a dream…
He was walking down the street passing by a dance studio, the one where he would pass by every day after he got off work. Jungsu looked up the dance studio, like always during night unlike day; the blinds would be opened and the light from the studio always caught Jungsu’s attention. There were two males by the window sill, sipping water from their chug bottles. Jungsu fixed his glasses so he could see better, one was thin and had a gummy but sweet smile while the other was rounder, his replying smile looked like they could clear up anyone’s sorrow.
Jungsu continued to walk until he reached a pet store; he never failed to stop by to play with the rabbits, they were white and too fluffy for their own good. The youngest son of the owner came and smiled like a kid at Jungsu; the older male smiled back at him and bid goodbye; he watched the young son move to feed the fishes, a bliss smile on his face. Jungsu couldn’t help but to keep smiling from ear to ear looking at the pet owner’s son.
He moved on and stopped at the bus stop. The posters changed again, one was of a trio singer group while the other an advertisement of the opening of a Chinese martial art school, run by two males; a Korean and Chinese, their picture on their promotional poster. They were really good looking, Jungsu thought. Before those new posters, the old ones were concert and movie posters; with a young Chinese-Canadian violinist as the guest; while the movie poster was of an actor who was scouted from the States.
The bus arrived and Jungsu got on, taking the seat in the middle, next to the window. Halfway back, the bus stopped and two youngsters got on the bus. They talked really loudly as if trying to notify everyone on the bus that they were under-aged kids trying to get into a new club downtown. “I heard the owner was in the army and now he’s opening the club with his friend. The co-partner gives customers whose AB-blood typed a fat discount!” “Lucky me!”
Jungsu was intrigued but he needed to go to work in the morning. He sighed and looked out the window; there was a new billboard outside, looking right at Jungsu. The two male models were full of charisma and it made most of the girl passengers squeal with glee. Jungsu chuckled at the girls and pressed the buzzer to get off.
“I’m home.” He called to no one in particular when he reached his house. That was life…
“Hyung…”
Leeteuk woke up and stared blurry at the owner of the voice, then looked around; the van was still moving and it was obvious that their dorm was still around fifteen minutes away. So why did Eunhyuk wake the leader up?
Leeteuk’s gaze asked the question because Eunhyuk answered, “I miss Hae.”
Leeteuk blinked.
Eunhyuk just went on with a list of names.
“…and Heechul hyung…”
Heechul was always with Mighty Mouth’s Sangchu every time after schedule.
“…and Hankyung hyung…”
Leeteuk too.
“…and Yesung hyung…”
He was always at the recording studio and flying back and forth due to KRY’s concert.
“…and Youngwoon hyung…”
Leeteuk cringed at the name.
“…and Donghee hyung…”
Shindong was recuperating back home while rushing his drama schedule.
“…and Minnie hyung…”
Sungmin was always preoccupied with his new drama.
“…and Hae…”
“You mentioned Hae already…” That was Leeteuk’s only reply but urged Eunhyuk to continue by keeping quiet again. The only free time where Donghae’s schedule was free would be spent at the studio preparing for the new Chinese album.
“…and Siwon…”
Siwon, he was seldom over at the dorm, they would only meet up if their schedules allow.
“…and Ryeowookie…”
That boy and Yesung; then now his Super Junior-M album recording.
“…and Kibummie…”
Leeteuk never had to worry about Kibum but now he worried over him all the time.
“…and Kyu…”
With Super Junior-M or his own house.
“…and Henry…”
Henry was too hard not to miss.
“…and Zhoumi hyung…”
Zhoumi with his lyrics writing and album, Leeteuk could hardly remember when he last saw the tall Chinese male.
Eunhyuk stopped, all the names said out already. Leeteuk patted the seat that was empty in the van. The van was literally empty, except the manager hyung who was driving. Usually they would fight to call shotgun and the seats closest to the door but now there was no need to fight, they were too many empty spaces to be filled. The dream played in Leeteuk’s mind again, there was no Leeteuk, just Jungsu. No such things as members, dance practice, endorsements, recording, acting, emceeing, radio DJ, variety shows, no nothing; just Park Jungsu.
“Hyukjae-ah…”
Eunhyuk looked at Leeteuk, his eyes brimmed with tears already. The dorm would always be empty after their Kiss the Radio schedule. The others would return but always near 3am and the two would have early Star King schedules, it was so hard for them to even talk while living in the same dorm; it was a state of absurdness.
Leeteuk placed his hand on Eunhyuk’s then closed his eyes, leaning back.
“Tell me what I want to hear, Hyukjae…”
He understood. He remembered when the leader asked him to stay with him at the hospital because he was afraid to be alone, with Ryeowook too.
“I’ll stay hyung. They will all come back but till then, even after, I’ll stay…”
