I am "the angry left" thank you very much.

I've been in love with my neighborhood since I moved in, nearly two years ago. It's historic. It's pedestrian friendly in a city that is--in classic midwestern mold--not. It's got good food nearby, decent pubs, bike lanes.
And for the last few days, it has also had the dear delegates and visitors of the RNC.

And really, it hasn't been a HUGE deal. I've not got into any fist fights or snark-matches about the brokenness of the government or how tired I am of hearing about what pies we're going to have our fingers in abroad...and so help me if I hear the T word one more time I'm going to rip someone's arms off! Really, I've been purposely keeping myself separate from all protesting and event-watching to keep my heart rate in a manageable place.

Today, I am feeling a little less kindly disposed. Why? Oh...SOMEONE (Mr. Nasally-Voiced Governor) decided it would be AMAZING to give a speech at 1:30 in the a.m. I had been happily asleep dreaming of zills and veils and bazaar shopping for three hours by that point. Applause and cheering unwelcome.
Now, he can throw a backyard party if he wants to, so can I, but I always feel like it's my neighborly duty to curtail people's craziness by a certain hour. It's courteous. Maybe everyone else had their windows closed because--good gods, it's starting to get a little chilly around here in MN. Batten down the hatches and throw up that winter plastic because it's already looking like the end of summer! *rolls eyes*
I like to sleep with the windows open until it might be health-threatening to do so. And thus, my governmental neighbors woke me up. And I'm cranky. I've been feeling exhausted and unbalanced all week anyway. This may just be the last straw.

Too bad I never went out and bought that water balloon launcher. Then, at least, I'd be ready for a repeat performance.

p.s. I totally understand that there are people who have been even more personally affected by all this, so this complaint of mine is more for humor than anything. My heart is with everyone who has been arrested for expressing themselves. I hate that some people went a little overboard on the breaking stuff front, but I hate even more that others who were not this violent are paying the same price.
The police presence has been far more than cautionary, and this also pisses me off. We shouldn't just have to sit down and take it. Our outrage: let us show you it.
