We've been doing Stanford 9 testing at school for the last two weeks. The kids are all a mess from standardized testing for a couple hours every morning. And I'm a mess, because the group I'm proctoring is the group that can't read the test on their own. So I've been reading it to them. For two weeks.
Have you ever tried reading an entire standardized test out loud? There were algebraic equations, is all I'm saying. My throat is sore, and I haven't had a real planning period since February.
Oh, and even though we're done with standardized testing, because we've still be holding classes on a rotating schedule, I get to proctor a regular test on Reconstruction tomorrow. At least it keeps me distracted from the other social studies teacher, who skipped half the curriculum and is having her class watch "Lawrence of Arabia" as part of her unit on World War Two.
