I took some pictures of our bedroom this week. It's pretty clean right now and I'm happy with how its decorated.
This is our bed, obviously. Blue and brown are the predominant colors here. We had navy blue and dark green when we first got married, then changed to dark red and brown when my parents gave us a bed in a bag set for Christmas. The blue and brown just sort of came together. Its amazing how well it works, actually, considering it was never planned. You can see a little bit of the red and brown pattern on the bedskirt. We do have the navy blue one floating around somewhere. I'm thinking about switching them out this weekend.
The framed pictures on our nightstands are postcards of our Chinese zodiac symbols that we bought in Dallas a few years ago, They had a big exhibition of objects from The Forbidden City and we picked those up in the gift shop. I read a book on feng shui once and it said that bedrooms of married people should have lots of pairs of objects, so you'll see a lot of matching items. The post cards, lamps, and character prints are three of the sets. I'm not including functional objects, like furniture or lamps.
Our dressers. I hate how they are placed. I think I'm going to have Jimmy move them this weekend. On top, you see leaning against the wall, two wall sconces. Jimmy has been promising me he'll hang them since January. The statue is a greek nude of a woman taking a bath. Another feng shui tip, have sensual art in your bedroom. The two framed pictures are me and Jimmy the first year we were dating. One them is actually from the day we met, which is also the day we independently decided to get married.
Another view of our bed, into the master bathroom. The closet door is open so you can't see the laundry basket overflowing next the shower. I got lazy last week and skipped the laundry for a few days. The brown dresser I've had since I was a baby. The top part folds down into a changing table, actually. I had been keeping my sweaters in their, but after I reorganized the closet, I could put them on the shelves there. Now it stands empty, attracting clutter. Jimmy is supposed to move it the spare room this week for me. On top is a really nice print of a couple dancing that I picked up from a local artist during the Roswell Arts Festival. I wish I could remember her name right now. It needs to be framed properly before I can hang it. The little box on the wall is an aromatherapy kit I got as a Secret Santa at school last year.
Another view of the dressers. This time you can see the windows. I love the shutters on our bedroom windows. Yes, our neighbors are very close to us. All of our furniture, except the brown dresser came from IKEA. We had a terrible hodgepodge of random crap scavenged from our parents and Wal-Mart before. I love what we have now.
What I'd like to do in here is move in a chair and a small table and create a reading corner. I think if we rearrange the dressers, there will be plenty of room. We definitely have enough space to really have a "master suite" in the traditional sense.
