Nurse in TMH Women's Pavilion Triage: "So, can you feel those contractions?"
Clueless Izzy: "I'm having contractions?"
That's right! We've finally gotten to nearly the last stage of the whole pregnancy experience! I went in for a routine midwife visit (with husband & mother in tow) which I expected would be just me asking questions about a "Birthing Plan" which I'd read about in the What To Expect When You're Expecting book. But the midwife said that I was 2 centimeters dilated, and that my blood pressure was oddly high -- so she sent me off to the hospital triage to get things checked out.
As it happens, there is no reason for worry: baby Rachel's parents may be stressed out, but she lives in a happy world free of care where she squirms around gleefully to her heart's delight. All my tests came back with good results, although because of the gestational diabetes I have been told that if I haven't naturally gone into labor by this time next week, they're going to induce me.
But all of this took so much time (hospitals are booooooorrrrringgggg...), Peire & I decided that there was no point in going in to work once they let me leave Tallahassee Memorial. So we came home, had a late lunch, and I'm relaxing before we get dressed up to head out to a family friend's high school graduation this evening. Anyhow, that's the news!
