Today I changed my calendars from the November page to the December one. And the calendar that I have in my sewing room is a Salvador Dali calendar that focuses on clock-face images, since that's his most famous design. And the picture featured for December is a lesser known painting by Dali done in 1981, entitled "Garden of Hours":
Pretty, isn't it? But as I looked at the picture, particularly the part with the female bust with blonde hair, I said to myself, "You know, that reminds me a lot of the Romana clockface sketch featured in the 4th Doctor Who episode "City of Death":
But then I recalled that "City of Death" aired in 1979 -- so the Romana image predates the Dali painting! Could it be that Salvador enjoyed watching British Sci-Fi and was inspired by this surreal portrait of my favorite Time Lady? The world may never know!
