It's been a beautiful week, weather-wise! This is my favorite time to work in the field that I do. It's also been very pleasant to do my walks in the evenings without feeling overly hot. I'm sleepy enough, but at least I'm comfortable.
In other news, Peire & I cast our votes at the early-open polls on Monday. And wow, was the waiting line long. But hopefully this bodes well for voter turnout in the election this year!
World Series is here, and normally I could care less. But Peire is rooting for the Philadelphia Phillies (since he has lived in PA), and since I went to college in the Tampa Bay area, I naturally root for the Rays. If I'm going to root for any team at all. But really, my favorite team (if I have one) is the Detroit Tigers since that's a team I've seen play live a number of times while I was growing up. I'm the type of person who enjoys watching sports live best, since you get the whole arena and crowd experience. I feel sad that Tallahassee no longer has a local ice hockey team. I adored going to the Tallahassee Tiger Sharks games. But at least with baseball, I understand the sport -- I played tons of teeball/softball while growing up. I've never really grasped the nuances of football. But I've never been terribly inspired to do so, either.
Today was a good day for Dad, in terms of how he was feeling and interacting with people. We have high hopes for his leaving the ICU for a regular hospital room as his good progress continues. Thank you for all your wonderful support for me and my family!
