Today's poetry posting is late, but that's because things have been both fun & busy in the last day or so.
On Friday, as I mentioned before, I got together with two of my MSL coworkers to watch videos, but during our conversation it was mentioned that one of them is particularly fond of playing board games -- Apples to Apples, Clue & Scrabble amongst others. Then on Saturday night we were officially saying farewell to
vistillia &
cirya at the Chin Household (wah! I'm very sorry to see them depart!), and of course we had a fine game of Mah Jongg there. After Church today, we had the annual Sunday School Picnic in San Luis Mission Park (not to be confused with Mission San Luis, although many do confuse the two) -- I came in second place in the Frisbee Golf Tournament, and then I played a rousing game of Rummycube with various other church members (I remember the fine days in Omaha when I would play this with my housemate Tina,
sdskuld &
veldcath!).
At some point I need to host a "Game Night" party again. Although I might want to think about renting out the Westwood clubhouse for the affair, since there's more room there than in my own rather small townhouse. Perhaps this might be a good idea for my birthday party in June! I could have several tables set up, so people can divide off and play different games here and there, instead of a great many people trying to play the same game all at once. What do you all think? And what games would you be interested in playing at such a thing?
And now, for today's poem! I've chosen
How Pleasant To Know Mr. Lear, by Edward Lear. I have a particularly fond connection to this amusing Victorian poet & artist, because on all the trips I've made to London, I've made it a particular priority to stay at the
Edward Lear Hotel Bed & Breakfast -- located, of course, in the poet's former home in Marble Arch. I hope I can get back there at some point in the next few years.
