Yes, I'm actually updating. Ooooh and Ahhhh. I happen to have something to write about other than the daily grind of studying and fly maintenance.
Rob and I attended the anime con on Saturday and it wasn't as bad as he thought it was going to be. For a convention created out of spite, it was pretty good and I had a pretty decent time. The main reason I wanted to go was for the dealers room. I was curious as to what was going to be available and whether or not I could find it by driving down the street to Avalon Anime or Anime Avalon or whatever they're calling Planet Anime these days. I have to say, I was pleasently surprised. Although, it wasn't as large as I hoped it would be, I found a few items I wouldn't have been able to find locally without due effort.
I bought a Menchi hat, which I love best out of all the things I got. It's so cute and fuzzy, and I look damn cute it in. I also got a FLCL poster and the second volume of the OST. I like The Pillows, and I wasn't about to shell out 40+ dollars for the import discs, but I found the FLCL disc for standard cd prices and I'm quite happy with it. I also got some new Ranma 1/2 dvds. I had forgotten how much I love that show and all the wacky hillarity that insues in each episode. I went crazy at one of the snack booths and bought four different kinds of pocky and some red currant chocolate candy things. Lastly, I bought a Secret Agent Cthulhu plushie for Nathan. It is the cutest damn thing I have ever seen. He's dressed as an MIB agent, complete w/rap-around sunglasses. The tag reads, "My name is Cthulhu, Agent Cthulhu, and I have a license to reap souls." I can't wait to see his face when I give it to him. He is so going to love it.
We also ran into Basty and Virginia while we were there. It was such a pleasant surprise seeing them there, considering the last time I saw them was the Super Bowl and I wasn't in the best of moods that day. We sat in the hotel bar and talked about his life in Minnesota with all the snow.
All in all, it was a good day and I had a great time. I look forward to the next one.
