All right! If you can post comments about films I saw a year later, I don't feel at all bad about a month XD The SO was ill for big chunks of August and September, so we only saw The World's End today.
Just in case, MASSIVE SPOILERS HERE, but I doubt anyone else is going to be reading this a month later, so that's probably unnecessary.
It was, first of all, as anticipated, enormous fun. Something of a downer at the end, though. The load-bearing boss was a classic that had to be done (like the soundtrack XD), but it's a bummer when you defeat the alien invasion and screw up the whole world. A definite lose-lose. But they could have just done 'And then the aliens all went away, and everyone went back to their happy lives, except Gary, who didn't have one', but I'm not sure that would have felt any more satisfying. It would have been kind of like the whole android replicants plot was moot. On balance, I think big and crazy and this can't all be fixed was the better way to go. It was definitely a surprise at the time, and that's a good thing to have at the end of a film.
