Seven things from whymzycal!
Just FYI, I am caught up on DW but not at all on LJ. I STILL LOVE YOU ALL.
1. the most fabulous giant robot EVER
I like Sandrock, Quatre's Gundam, mostly because of the name, honestly. Plus being Quatre's Gundam, there's a certain inherent level of fabulousness, don't you think?
2. writing AUs
Writing AUs is my happy place. I think putting the characters in new places and having them react to different circumstances shows a lot about who they essentially are. I love reading them too, as you probably already know. Having said that, I think some canons (Weiss, Saiyuki, Sherlock) suit universe-altering AUs better than others (TMNT, KKM).
3. cats!
We have two cats and they are totally adorkable. I love hearing about other people's cats too. When I was a kid my allergies were pretty nasty and I couldn't have any animals until I was 11 or 12, so it's nice to have little fuzzy friends around.
4. essential writing reference books/materials
I wrote about Writers Inc. for
fandom_grammar back in the day, and I am still fond of the AP Stylebook. I tend to rely on Wikipedia and Google search for most of my reference work; the high-end air travel I talked about in Pop Life mostly came from an article about the best first-class accommodations.
5. the most influential book you've read
Sure of You, the first book I read in Armistead Maupin's "Tales of the City" series. Maupin showed something that felt a little like Utopia, even in the worst of times. In an excellent coincidence, the topic came up in Salon today.
6. food
I love food. There's pretty much no kind of food I won't try, though I do refuse some meats. (BUNNY. And no way I'm trying frog legs after growing up on the Muppet Movie.) Still, the best food in the world remains Korean barbecue.
7. no regrets
Not much any more. Thank dog for antidepressants, lol.
