I'm glad Kou and Doku have Yaone to straighten them out. Thanks!

Nice. I love Doku, that big lug. And the fact that he still doesn't want to tell Yaone that whole truth about his home life ... I figure he will, eventually.

He does! Back in the barcoding arc, first Nii is needling Doku with references to it, while Yaone is right there in the room with them, and then a few scenes later Doku fesses up directly to her that it's all true. (That sticks in my mind because I love the whole scene between the two of them, where Yaone LITERALLY slaps him out of self-pitying funk.)

In the version of Saiyuki in my head, Yaone slaps sense into them ALL THE TIME. Sometimes just metaphorically but still.

That is pretty much my favorite Yaone scene in canon, so I would heartily subscribe to your head-canon.

Oh, those boys. <3 Nothing like the Sha brothers to squeeze at your heart. And I love Yaone's warmth and sympathy here.

Awww. This is lovely. There is just not enough Doku fic out there.

I mean, everybody in Saiyuki has bucketloads of trauma, but having to kill your own mother to save your little brother ranks right up there on the list of tragic backstories. Poor guy. :(

Thank you!

I was saying to lindentreeisle when I was writing it that the full horror only really sinks in when you're writing fanfic (at least for me).

because how much was he saving gojyo and how much in the end was he saving himself?
there's a lot of blood there
that's all I'm sayin'
