lol @ the first two points - we're waiting for them to move on to RPS, since BRPS didn't want them.

And ooh, Equilibrium! I liked that movie! Christian Bale was super badassed in it! As I recall, it was released simultaneously with The Matrix, so it kind of got buried in the hype, sadly.

Actually, the first one is about Warningfail!

I think I'm just too tired and needing distraction for it at the moment. I'm watching American Masters on Chinese people in American film instead and there are shiny bits, though it's not as good as The Celluloid Closet.

Oooh, what is Warningfail?

I present an unfunnybusiness link because I cannot summarize without using the phrase 'entitled fuckheads with no respect for rape victims,' even though that is not all of what's going on in the debate and I have people I like who do not want or intend do warn.

Holy sweet MOTHER OF GOD what is wrong with people. I thought warning for rape wasn't just common sense, but good sense. I realized a very long time ago that fics without warnings for things like rape, abuse, and even which pairing the fic has tend to get flamed very quickly. B-But the massive amount of victim blaming there is just spectacular! (as was that first girl who made a three comment long rant on the topic)

I can see the other side, as sleepfighter put it, where if you know the person's writing that there's little point to posting warnings, but I can't see that applying in too many cases (maybe for writing journals, but I still like making bullshit warnings for things like "het" and "radioactive ANGST").

I-I don't even know. I'm currently trying to explain to someone that putting the burden on someone who's been abused to have to ask other people about filters is...yeah, and. I don't even know. I think I need to step back from the whole thing. I mean, yeah, there are unreasonable people on the pro-warning side. NO SHIT THIS IS THE INTERNET.

Man, I don't know about you, but *I* sure go around e-mailing the author of everything I potentially think of reading just to make sure there's nothing squick-worthy in it! That's my responsibility as a rape victim, right?

OR I JUST DON'T BOTHER READING UNLABLED FICS. Funny how that works. And I'm not saying anyone else should just shrug this off - I'm saying that as a failing on the author's part. Don't label your shit, I don't read it. (hilariously, I only really have one big squick when it comes to fanworks, and it's not rape - I mostly don't read unlabled fics because I don't like surprise pairings. I like to know what I'm getting)

And some people put up a big 'I don't warn' disclaimer and that's fine. But the sheer amount of assholery going on is just blowing my mind.

NOW SEE, I can live with that, because I'd know to expect scary subject matter (as opposed to having to read some pairing I find stab-worthy - I have hilarious standards, shh).

B-But yes, wow. The assholery here is absolutely astounding. And this is something you'd think most women would have no problem understanding.
