Er...yeah. So, this little bit of scene popped into my head today and it's been nagging at me ever since. I have no idea where it came from, or what it means, or even of the story behind or following it - but here it is:
It's like... it feels like... an angst-fest sorta fic, with this as the teaser.
Like Yukina(and maybe Shizuru)'s been raped and killed, and Hiei died in the attempt to save them both, and now Yuusuke's dealing with the grief of losing both Yukina and Hiei. And Kurama's stoic, because he's Kurama. And Kuwabara feels guilty he couldn't save either of them, and that Hiei died also trying to help his sister. And finds out Hiei's Yukina's brother. And then he goes and takes revenge on the demon that killed Yukina and Shizuru. The three of them: Yuusuke, Kurama, Kuwabara. I guess Yuusuke could end up dying, but that's almost too angsty.
Anyway. Afterward, Kuwabara just feels empty because even though they killed the demon and got revenge for (Yuusuke?,)Yukina, Shizuru and Hiei's deaths, it won't bring them back. And Kurama's stoic, because he's Kurama and he's used to loss, because he's lived so long. And it was a lie that he said because, in all his years of living, he's found a way not to die. And he's not happy about it, because it just prolongs his suffering and there's really no way out. He can't die, or something. Something in his youki or soul that decrees he must always exist. Like a curse, from an old gypsy in Makai, or something, that he thought was a great boon when he was a younger youko, but is now coming to realize how much of a curse it was.
And so, Kurama doesn't judge Kuwabara for choosing his death. With Yuusuke, Hiei and Kuwabara gone, Kurama may wander out of sight. Maybe back to Makai, and quietly shift to youko form and take up his old life.
'It was unfathomably empty, but with those he loved gone, it was the only way he knew how to live...'
Maybe Shiori died before all the angst, or she could also be a victim. Keiko lives on, and perhaps she's telling the story. She could be a grandmother, or something, and telling a story to her grandkids--obviously, she married someone other than Yuusuke.
It's crazy-angst. But those are the thoughts that came to mind for a story when I read this. Character-death could be interesting. Especially that many, and if it's done over a long-enough period of time so it doesn't feel unnatural...
I know that this is (if it ever ends up being written) bound to be an angst-ridden story, but I don't know that I ever would have thought about something like that. Actually, the more I thought about it, the more I sort of thought it might have something to do with Kuwabara being possessed or something, maybe? I don't know, actually.
xDDDD AFTER this semester is over, AFTER(or possibly before) I write the angry-sex threesome with KxYxH, and AFTER I update chapter twelve of 'Second Try' for Christmas. <333
I shall stick it in the back of my mind, let it bounce around, and we'll hear from it again in a few months. x3
We shall see~~
(And I've got new icons and a redone page for the new decade~! Hurrah, hurrah~~! <333 )

(I was literally just typing whatever came to mind without editing it, so if it seems a bit convoluded that's my fault. x///x~ )
Or, we could write different stories from the same prompt~! xDD Ahaha.

It would be so interesting to see how different they might turn out.
