A/N: Written for blueutopiah's birthday, given the prompt of a Kurama/Yusuke fic with a jealous Hiei. Not at all how I expected this to turn out, but hopefully, you still like it? Also, posted a day early, because tomorrow's going to suck for me.

I...alternately love and hate writing in Hiei's voice, and it's definitely something I can't force.

Actually, I wanted that deliberately vague - as in, it's really up to reader's perspective whether or not Yusuke's actually speaking, or Hiei's imagining things, or even if it's Yusuke's thoughts, being that Hiei's Jagan gives him some amount of telepathy.

Nah, the other journals are dead pretty much. I just hadn't really deleted them to look back at my posts since it's like a diary I could never really have. This is just my fandom journal for posting fics and updates on them. I'm actually starting to go back into writing fanfiction again. I got a ton of ideas for Hiei fics!

There was too much drama with my personal journal so before I completely disown LJ I decided to take a break from LJ. I still like it but I'm laying off really, really personal posts and stuff.

I think the next time I really open an account here is if I can afford a permanent account here since I'll have more control over my journal and stuff.

I had an incident where some Russian spambot stole all my posts and copied it onto their LJ. Too much headachyness. How have you and emod been doing? I miss reading your posts.

I haven't heard from Misty in a while. Is she and Taka doing okay?

And shit, Russian spambots? That's nuts. I had them leave like, 100 comments in various entries when I had a public journal but they leave me the fuck alone now that it's locked.

Misty and Tak have officially fell off the face of the earth. I haven't heard from them in months. Misty isn't even on DA anymore.

...considering that my sinuses are still in fail mode, my uterus woke me up at 4:30am and I've been in pain ever since, and I've spent most of the day hating life on the couch, this was posted at just the time I needed it.

You came at this from an angle I didn't expect and it worked so well. Considering Hiei is my favourite /biased it was awesome to see this from his POV. You wrote him just right: watching, emotionally affected but yet almost-distant, waiting to grab him out from under Kurama. And Kurama's challenge in his gaze? YES YES YES.

And sometimes, when Hiei watches from the shadows as Kurama plays with his newest treasure, he can't help but admit that they seem almost made for each other. Red against black, dark against light, slim against solid - everything one is, the other isn't.
And that is why I like Yusuke/Kurama, the way they're opposites and how they come together.

I can't thank you enough. I will have to thank you properly with gropes and innapropriate touching when we meet up again, deal?

Honestly, I thought it would be snarky and fun, and then it...wasn't. Like I mentioned up above, Hiei's voice either comes or it doesn't, and it was decidedly not in a snarky mood for this fic, I guess. Nonetheless, I'm glad you still enjoyed it.

There is a lovely sort of duality in Yusuke/Kurama (which is also sort of why I like Kurama/Kuwabara - it's there, as well, a bit) that I like pointing out, and I also like that it isn't there for Yusuke/Hiei.

It's a birthday present - I don't really think you need to thank me for it. I mean...I don't know.

I won't pass up gropes and inappropriate touching, though.

Well, Hiei can show up snarky and get into a battle of wits with Kurama, or he can be morose and cold and baggagey to write. I understand, he works that way with me too. All this time and I still don't think I have the right grasp on him, Kurama too. Yusuke is the only one who comes easily to me and that's because I act just like him so I think about what I would do...

And oh yes, there isn't that duality with Yusuke and Hiei because the two are eerily similar, Yusuke is just a nicer, less give-a-shit version of Hiei.

Like you'd pass up innapropriate touching. I KNEW YOU WOULDN'T.

This is definitely true. He's...actually a remarkably interesting character, and I love exploring that - especially because we get relatively little of him and his motivations in canon (at least, compared to the others). It sucks that he's often trivialized by fandom.

They really are. Which, at times, makes them a very interesting pair to write. Not that I do it often, really. I wonder why that is... Huh.

I like that there are so many different facets to the same situation, and that if you give the same prompt to 20 different readers, you get 20 completely different stories. Writing's so cool that way.
