Well, I’m home after a week in a field. I’ll be catching up with what you’ve all written later on, but for now, larp eventness.
Hurrah. No one died OC, which was my win condition.
Everyone from staff to players helped make the event the success it seems to have been, and I can’t possibly thank everyone here as well, it’s pretty much everyone in the field who met me or knew me or a member of the Unicorn team.
So, hot and not.
Hot
Greg (as ever) for calming me down and cheering me up, running out plot and suggesting solutions, even if I can’t believe he said some of the things he did in company…
Tuart for his hard work (all the Night Hags stuff was his to write and run, I didn’t change anything) and playing the big bad at not much notice
Peter for taking over when I just couldn’t and filling in people with the bits I don’t know yet
Team Unirantula - Mike for bringing the stuff and monstering for me with T on Friday and putting the shits up faction and guild, really got things started and got me into the right headspace
Leanne, Gareth, Ciaron for moving plot forwards and making things happen IC when the faction needed steering
House Fang (plus Jackals Jim and Ed) for doing my monster plot ritual and being amazing
The setup crew - the circle looked amazing and it was your work
Players
Staff and the wider team of LT
Eddie and Rob for helping keep the keen levels up and filling in gaps
Unicorn security team for not making Greg do the genny every night and making sure no one drank the petrol.
The people who said “Does it have to be you?” and got me to delegate when I could
Everyone who monstered
Clan Firetail breaking into the Barrow and waking up a Barrow Wight. There wasn’t one planned to be there as Hopkirk’s phys rep wasn’t there, but if they went to the trouble of breaking in, least I could do was send them a wight. They seemed to enjoy him.
My really keen Barrow Wight who kept coming back to check if he was needed yet
Tiering up. My dismiss level dropped to 71 from 210 but I am now a Referee Lauren instead of a Marshal. Still don’t know rules and must learn them.
Weather clearing up so people got the keen on to come down for the final fight
Diseasing Clan Firetail when they licked the altar, plus their rites. Awesome group really.
Not
Being told 5 minutes before we were due to hit the field that Simon wanted to retire Krin and would like a good ending. Hopefully going out one-on-one with Kelad was good enough.
Lack of monsters Friday.
Large amounts of wibble Friday.
Not enough sleep.
Being snappy at people.
The cold on Sunday night.
Getting horribly drunk Thursday and singing really loudly. Two pints of cider, that took. Ye gods, the shame.
Not enjoying Branwen much, but we’ll see how the GEF goes when I can get IC more. The voice has to go though!
As we see, it was mostly a pretty good event. The players won, which was by no means certain. They killed all the stuff they needed to (and, as players will, some of the stuff they didn’t!). Pretty pleased with the way it went out and was received. Right now, I feel I did a good job.
Thoughts, advice and constructive criticism welcome as ever.
past my bedtime,
