30 Day Music Meme Day 4 - A Song That Makes You Sad
I just want to say, so far I've loved reading about and listening to other peoples' choices of music in this meme. Well, not so much the "Least Favourite Song" ones, but you know. The rest are all G.
Again, apologies for the indecisiveness, but I can't choose between these two songs. They both hit me right where it hurts and make me almost cry.
Lullaby, by Blackfield. It's simple and beautiful, and I'm 90% sure it's about child abuse, with lyrics like "lie with grace,
smash my face" and "stop the noise, smash my toys". I love this song, although it's heart-wrenchingly sad.
Black Orchid, by Blue October. The lead singer, Justin Furstenfeld, wrote this song when he was 14 to tell his mother he was suicidal, because he couldn't say it any other way. You really get the sense he's laying his soul bare in this one. The line "maybe life's not for everyone" never fails to chill my spine.
