Wish You Were Here - a songstory starring Carrot Ying

Hello, wonderful people. Yes, you. Stop looking behind yourself. Blimey. This is an idea I've had bouncing around my head for the last... ages. xD It's based on a sorta-drabble I wrote ages ago, and I've wanted to make a songstory for a while, so here it is!

Wish you were here - Pink Floyd

"Carrot, Shaun and I are heading home. If you could lock up when you- are you alright?"

"I'm fine. Tired, is all."

"Carrot, if you want to drop this case, I... Ron's got a light load at the moment, I'm sure he wouldn't mind taking it off your shoulders-"

"No. I want to finish this myself."

"He's your brother..."

"Exactly."

"It's just, I know it must be hard-"

"Angua, I'm fine. Really. Go home."

So,

So you think you can tell
Heaven from Hell.

Blue skies from pain.

Can you tell a green field
From a cold steel rail?

A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?

Did they get you to trade
Your heroes for ghosts?

Hot ashes for trees?

Hot air for a cool breeze?
And cold comfort for change?

Did you exchange
A walk on part in the war,

For a lead role in a cage?

How I wish,

How I wish you were here.

We're just two lost souls
Swimming in a fish bowl,

Year after year,

Running over the same old ground.

What have we found?

The same old fears.

Wish you were here.

And just let the music fade out... Tra la. Well, that's me done for now, I hope you enjoyed this wee distraction. :)
For those who don't know, the song was written by Roger Waters after Syd Barrett left Pink Floyd after his breakdown; the decision to leave the band was not an easy one, but was necessary for the group's survival. It also covers his feelings of alienation from other people, but whenever I listen to it, I just hear how much they miss Barrett.

It's a beautiful song I love very much, and for the purposes of my Legacy I feel it reflects the situation with Carrot and Chrysoprase -  there's a sense of disappointment, frustration and loss. At least, in my head, it does.

Later, all.

angua, carrot, i hearts my music, oh the angst, sims 2, wish you were here, songstory, pink floyd, the watch house, a discworldly legacy, c generation
