Took me 8 hours to read it. Counting the 6 hours that I "worked" today.
With the Gryffindor house colours on the ribbon in my hair. Which I'm going to wear tomorrow as well...coz it was fun. :P
I have to admit, my "review" isn't very indepth. Can't think straight at the moment. I'm still wandering around with a wad of tissues in my hand.
*flails*
SNAPE WASN'T EVIL!! HE WASN'T EVIL!!! just waiting for the AU fic that's bound to appear in a matter of days lol
It just cements him as my favourite character. I can't help it. He redeemed himself in my eyes with him giving his memories to Harry, which was a wonderful explanation of WHY he was doing it. I have to say, I had second thoughts with all the nasty things he was doing, and then he duelled McGonagall...but he missed the Death Eater on the broomstick and caught George instead. Poor George. Man oh man, some of these deaths were so unnecessary! Poor Teddy (!), what, are we going to have another Harry Potter on our hands? LOL Harry becoming Godfather. And I know it's a bit silly, but I had the thought that if Snape hadn't been such a twat and shot his mouth off, could Harry have been his son? Just a thought. Don't shoot me for it!
I thought some of the Trio stuff quite boring actually...lots of "the weeks turned into months" and I was just longing for JK to get on with it. Have to say that I probably skipped most of those bits. Was a bit WTF RON?! What are you DOING? And then he came good. Knew he wouldn't disappoint! He's just made of win. Bought a Ron bookmark when I picked up my book early *cough* this morning. JK just seems to write his character so well - one of the most normal ones in the series I think!
I spent the last 2 hours sobbing and wailing and fairly shouting the flat down. Don't think my neighbours would have been very appreciative. I think it was from the point when Harry realised that he was going to his death, then walking through the hall and seeing Remus and Tonks. That really got me, I honestly believed for a second that she was going to kill them both. It was one of the best parts of the book. And I couldn't handle it! My nerves were shot to pieces enough already!
I loved loved LOVED the back stories, and all the mythology she stuck in there. We FINALLY got a bit more history in this one which I thought was awesome. Esp. about Dumbledore. I forgave him straight away. So what he did all those things? What matters is that he realised that he was wrong. He's such a strong character and I remember being devastated when JK 'killed' him off. It just seemed that Harry was having every adult who was even remotely like family being picked off! Poor kid.
Wow...I think I've calmed down a bit now that I've had a cup of tea. Of course I'm wide awake and I feel like I've lost something. It's definately an end of an era I think. I'm kind of hoping that JK or someone might continue the adventures of teh Hogwarts babies (ALBUS SEVERUS! man, that just set the water works off twice as bad! *sniffs* and even what Harry says about Snape at the end! ♥ thankyou Harry). I can't imagine a life without new bits of Harry Potter stuff, you know? Yeah the movies and books are always going to be around, but it's the excitement of getting up early in the morning, feeling like a little kid again running in to get your copy is what I'm going to miss.
I even remember the time when I used to pull the first book out of the shelf at my primary school library and always put it back because I thought it looked boring. How wrong I was! "Don't judge a book by it's cover!"...or rather in my case, the first page LOL!
