Some fun memeage for a crappy Saturday morning... brought to you by the letter "G" and fried_flamingo

Gilbert Grape

Johnny Depp in a role that won him serious reviews... in a film, I must confess, I have never seen in its entirety.   But, I could not let the opportunity go by to use  a JD character ;)

Commissioner Jim Gordon

Without a doubt, my favorite character in the new Dark Knight series, and one of my favorites in the Batman 'verse.  Jim Gordon walks the line between justice and vigilantism in his nebulous partnership with Batman, one that will ultimately destroy his marriage and threaten both his life and his career, all the while raising a daughter, Barbara, who parallels his partnership with a masked one of her own, when she comes of age as Batgirl.  Although a much more forceful and aware character, he can be likened at times to PotC's Weatherby Swann, who says "... perhaps piracy... is the right course?"

Lieutenant Groves

"That's got to be the best pirate I've ever seen."
The ultimate Jack Sparrow fanboy, this relatively minor PotC character utters this memorable line not once, but twice: once in Curse of the Black Pearl, and again in At World's End, drawing the ire of his superiors but giving voice to the thoughts of fangirls (and boys) everywhere.  Another Groves line? "Do you think he plans it all out, or makes it up as he goes?"

Joshamee Gibbs

By alternating accounts, the bo'sun or first mate of the Black Pearl under Jack Sparrow, Gibbs serves as a source of both comic relief and a Greek Chorus in all three PotC movies, providing humorous exposition just when things start getting confusing.  The quintessential old salt, Gibbs has spent a life at sea, both with the Royal Navy and as a pirate, and is a loyal, steady companion to Jack, though is not above noting to Will Turner, "Reason's got nothing to do with it."

Hermione Jane Granger

An insufferable know-it-all on the surface, the future Mrs. Weasley suffers heartbreak and endures vicious prejudice against her 'mudblood' heritage on her way to becoming an incredibly powerful witch and a loyal friend and ally to Harry Potter.  Striking fear into Slytherin hearts with her magical prowess, she effectively redefines the phrase 'girl power.'
