Will's mind raced, the pounding of his heart belied by an arched eyebrow and calculating half-smile as he regarded Jones' undulating countenance over a delicate china teacup.
Think like Jack.
As a girl, Elizabeth had always shared with him the stories she learned from her tutors of classical Greece and Rome -- stories of trickster gods and silver-tongued satyrs, and of real-life conquerors who turned the mighty city-states against one another, then swiftly defeated them all.
Think like Jack.
He wondered, taking a calm sip of Beckett's bitter tea, if treachery had always been conducted beneath such a thin veneer of civility.
