For a long time, due to TV deprivation (no TV), I only had two popular culture references that I had to rely on at all times to get me through those awkward moments of "ice breaking" at social situations such as parties, bars, art openings, toga parties, installations, rock shows, bush parties, casual chats with neighbours, cigarettes with acquaintances, dinners, luncheons, brunches, breakfasts, CD release parties, "greenroom" schmoozes (just kidding, I wasn't invited), sausage parties (same thing), hen parties, frat parties, swingers' nights, photo-shoots, patio nights with new friends, those nervous few moments before the lights go down at the movies and the smooching can start, comedy shows that leave you feeling relaxed and invigorated, comedy shows that leave you feeling offended and confused (i.e. due to racist tirades), ska shows, scat shows, poetry slams, dub benefits, karaoke nights, boogie nights, skating afternoons, Shania Twin shows at roadhouses, Shania Twain shows at amphitheaters, chance meetings with Professors in front of the seafood counter at Loblaws, beside the lobsters, meetings in chat rooms, chats at drag shows, or even long walks on the beach.
These two popular culture references were Reuben Studdard and Spongebob Squarepants. But I've come a long way, baby. Now I can confidently cite any of the following:
The "L" Word
Condilicious Rice
Dream Girls
Canadian and American Idol
Bath-houses for women
Hillary Duff
Children of Men
Twin Peaks
Definitely Not the Opera
medicating the problem (I want in)
Agile Like This
The Top three fantasy girlfriends according to AskMen.com (Beyonce, Scarlett J. and Jessica Alba)
Reuben "Dud"dard
Anyway, the list goes on, and I have to give a shout-out to Meagan for her enriching and hilarious post on TV. I love TV too and I really want to get one, because I think it's the only way I can relax these days. I miss you, Meagan, and our L Word Nights! Any good developments?

I've noticed a pattern. I was thinking about synonyms for the word boat. Look at these two:
ark
bark
I vote that this pattern continue. There should be a word for "boat" starting with every letter of the alphabet and ending in "-ark," with slightly different meanings. A "cark" would be like a car, a "dark" designed for night-travel, an "eark" a recreation of an Anglo-Saxon raft, and so on. Just an idea.

One of the largest collections of objects owned by Napolean could find a new home in Montreal. The collection includes some of his trademark hats and snippets of hair.
Okay, I've begun transcribing directly from the radio so it's time to give it up and get back to work.
