This is truly a historic day. For some reason, I never thought I'd see this. To me, having a Black man as President of the United States had always been something that only happened in movies or on TV. But not in real life. I figured if it did happen one day, I'd probably be a very old lady. America has come a very long way and this calls for celebration.
Some people say that Obama's vision may be a little too socialist and that this is not what America is about or needs but even though I'm not American, I don't agree. A great country cannot be built on capitalism only because capitalism breeds greed (the sub-prime loan disaster is probably the best example of that ever) and inequality. I think it's about high time that the American government looks at the more balanced model adopted by a few other countries because everyone would be much better off, IMO. Start by reforming health care. Make it accessible to everyone. And yes, take from the rich to give to the poor if you have to. If you don't do this, the rich will only get richer and the poor will only get poorer.
