The two big events of the weekend were the Real Madrid/Mallorca game and the Golden Globes. Both were surprisingly tame affairs. RM won...of course. Higuain was back - thankfully - and he set up two of the three goals. Ray Hudson found every way possible to praise him - you would have thought it was the second coming. Gosh Ray, just sleep with him already! Iker posted yet another shutout. Nice to see him on a roll again. The Ramos scored his first goal of the season and celebrated in style. Aside from all the Real luvin', I have to say that Mallorca goalkeeper was hot. I was absolutely floored when I found out he was from Nazareth. How cool!!!
The Golden Globes were mildly exciting. Actually, the Red Carpet was more fun. Only two noteworthy comments about the event- first, is it just me or did Kate Winslet gush over Leo more than her own husband? Also, not surprisingly Heath Ledger won the Supporting Actor award (which he deserved) but how disturbing was it when they panned over all the nominees in that category? Poor Tom Cruise and Robert Downey Jr. They really looked at a loss for words. It is an awkward situation to be in. Fortunately the acceptance speech went rather well. Highlight of the night was Zachary Quinto and Chris Pine (aka new Spock and new Kirk) presenting the award to Anna Paquin. They were by far the best looking and best dressed individuals at the event. None of the women stood out in particular. Megan Fox looked great but even she wasn't anything special. And what was with Drew Barrymore's hair. Was she going for a retro-Marilyn-Monroe-I-just-got-out-of-bed look? It really didn't work.
Other exciting news - as I was watching this week's episode of Crusoe they advertised an upcoming miniseries...they show Templar crosses, archaeologists, desert sands, Mira Sorvino, Victory 'spy-daddy- Garber,...and then comes the name...The Last Templar. OMG I read the Raymond Khoury book a couple of years ago and it was so exciting (well except for the ending - hopefully there will be an alternate ending in the mini-series). I was so busy jumping around in excitement that I didn't even get to see the air dates. I must check out the NBC site for more details.
I am happy to say that Feliciano Lopez has surfaced. He is currently in the Sydney tourney. He is still participating in the doubles event with Robredo but lost his first round match in singles. Ho hum...well I guess I'll see him in Melbourne which is NEXT WEEK!! Wow, I can't believe it is already time for the Australian Open. Needless to say I'll be cheering on Rafa. Hopefully I'll get to see some of his matches but with the time difference you never know.
