Do you know what has to be one of the greatest experiences for me? Going to a used bookstore and finding a book on my wishlist that I otherwise would have had to special order...Yesterday in my searching for a copy of Paradise Lost (aka the January essential read), I stumbled across a copy of
The Treasure of Montsegur: A Novel of the Cathars...it is a potential next read after The Dante Club which is currently progressing at an alarming glacial pace...not my reading of it, rather the actual pace of the novel itself...*snooze*...nonetheless, I continue in hopes that it will pick up.
2008 Book List - Progress Meter
1 / 36 (2.78%)
My goal is to read 1 classic book a month (as per my booklist outlined in December) and 2 additional novels (classical or contemporary) = 3 x 12 months = 36 books. Of course I'd prefer to read more than the 36 but that is the goal for now.
Read to date:
1. Dante - Inferno
Currently reading:
2. Dante - Purgatorio
3. Matthew Pearl - The Dante Club
Next up:
4. Dante - Paradiso
5. Milton - Paradise Lost
6.? Ki Longfellow - The Secret Magdalene or Sophy Brunham - The Treasure of Montsegur
It is once again that time of year when I am forced into renewing the Norton Anti-Virus software. Needless to say, it is $$$ I do not have nor do I have a credit card by which to make the obligatory payment. I asked the tech at work about my options and he informed me that since I do work from home I am entitled to a free copy of the office anti-virus software to use on my home system. Bonus: that software is likely more potent that the one I currently have installed. YAY!! That saves me $70+!!!
I am not up to speed on the federal/provincial tax regulations but we must have received some type of reduction effective Jan 1/08 as my paycheque went up by $20 and I know I did not receive a raise. Oh great!!! Now I can afford to buy cat food. Rutger will be eternally grateful!!
