Perfect TV...almost

May 11, 2006 11:23

If you had the opportunity to watch television on only one night of the year, last night would have been THE night to do it.

Lost: Locke + Eko…is love. Basically, this season of LOST has been a total write off. This show is worse than a soap opera for actually advancing the plot. The only eps worth watching this year were the season opener and, purely because I like the actors, the Eko and the Sawyer-centric shows. At least last night it appeared they were back on track again - that is, attempting to unravel the mystery of the island. And hopefully this trend will continue for the remainder of the season.

Amazing Race: I know I’ve said it before, but I must reiterate - this season of AR has been the most entertaining and satisfying…not just of AR but of any reality show….EVER. The teams have traveled to what I consider to be the most appealing destinations - no crappy crowded or off-the-beat locales. The teams, save two, have all been tremendously friendly, outgoing and supportive of each other, a refreshing change from the constant and annoying bickering partners of previous years. As for the teams themselves, the final three who will race to the finish line next week are the very three teams that most deserve to be there.

Eric & Jeremy may epitomize the I’m-only-here-to-pick-up-anything-in-a-skirt All American boys (aka Jonesy incarnate), but aside from the canceling of the taxis incident last week, they really haven’t deliberately hindered the progress of any of the other teams, have never gotten mad at each other, have stayed at the top of the pack consistently yet still managed to stay under the radar and not annoy any fellow competitors. It appears they have not only a conscious but also some brains…whether they realize it or not is another matter. I hope they come in third.

Ray & Yolanda are all round good people Really nice to everyone. Nothing particularly special about them…just normal people…but they seem to take everything in stride. They don’t whine, criticize or bicker - they always stay positive. They just keep going on, dealing rationally with everything that comes their way. They acknowledge their limitations and don’t stress about the fact that they can’t do certain things as well as some of the other teams. I hope they come in second.

BJ & Tyler…well  their my favs. Isn’t it obvious?? They have been my favs since the race began. I could go on and on listing all their virtues but, simply put, they are just two incredibly perfect guys. TTOW xoxoxo

One more note re: AI. I have never been happier to see a team eliminated than when MoJo got the boot last night. I loathed them. I can’t believe Joseph actually lauded Monica for her support and inspiration throughout the race. She was completely useless. All she did was complain and cry. *rolls eyes* Buh-bye...go enjoy your mediocrity, MoJo.

American Idol…the night was going so well and then THUD!!! WTF!!!! I love Taylor, God bless him, but Chris should have won this thing. Hands down. Don’t even waste your breath trying to convince me that either Catharine or Elliot have any degree of charisma or talent that might carry them beyond their fifteen minutes of fame. I’d more likely buy the swampland before I’d ever buy one of their albums. Taylor is certainly fun to watch and does have a great voice but he is no Chris. Chris is as talented if not better than the majority of rock artists out today. I’m certain he’ll have no problem getting a contract if he doesn’t have one already. Of course,
Niviene and I have several conspiracy theories on Chris’ premature departure from AI - all eventually and ultimately relying on the fact that the show is fixed. YES, IT IS. Do they ever actually publish the voting results??? I’d pay to see them. Same thing happened last year with Constantine. By default, I hope Taylor does win but somehow I doubt we'll be that fortunate. If Taylor is eliminated next week, that is, if the dimwitted Americans choose to allow clueless Cat and lackluster Elliott to continue on, I can guarantee I won’t be watching the final.

America’s Next Top Model - hmmm, I honestly don’t like any of the girls that are remaining. In fact I don’t think I really liked any of the girls from this cycle. OK well maybe Jade - she has a fantastic body - but her personality needs a major makeover. The other girls are all a little plain…nothing outstanding. I really don’t care who wins.

Digging for the Truth…don’t ask me what the show was about. I really can’t remember anything other than this incredibly hot guy, named JOSH, with long, dark, curly hair, who just happens to be an archaeologist, and his explorations of  the Holy Land and something to do with the bloodline of Christ and the Merovingian Dynasty. quidquid. I’m certain the dissertation was interesting but really…the hair…the lips…the eyes. Can someone buy him a pair of jeans??? OK that was sooooo shallow and superficial but it is incredibly difficult to find someone Marek-like and he is pretty damned close. That said, I’d still rather BJ/Tyler.

And finally, the perfect way to close the night….Paul Bettany on Jay Leno - the man was hysterical.

Alas, tonight is not nearly as promising. Class. And it is raining out. Sucks

lost, amazing race, marek, idol, television
