Praise the Lord and Hallelujah. I officially have some time, albeit brief at best, to sit down and compose a genuine LJ post. Sorry about the
I am finally finished with my Roman history essay (re: Julio-Claudian emperors). I have to admit I did enjoy working on it - or at least the research portion of it. But it was so much work and I am frankly exhausted right now. Anyhow, no more essays for Waterloo until next YEAR!!
What has happened since my last post?
It is snowing out.
Records Management course - showed up for class on Tuesday only to discover that the class was cancelled. Good and bad. I kind of wished I had known ahead of time so I didn’t waste my time getting ready and going. But it is only 10 minutes away so it’s not like I had a long way to travel. And my readings were done so I don’t have to do any work for tonight’s class. I hope that doesn’t mean she plans on extending the course an extra day. Feel free to push back the due date of our assignments though!!
Went to see Pride & Prejudice this weekend. Yes it was quite good. How could it really be possible to screw up such a great story. But no, it wasn’t as good as the definitive ‘Colin Firth’ edition. Perhaps the fact that it was 3 ½ hrs shorter prevented the character development necessary for the film to be a true success. Matthew “Mr. Darcy” MacFadyen’s resemblance to a young Clive Owen was somewhat distracting throughout the course of the film. Nonetheless, a DVD purchase is to be found in this film.
Upcoming movies this weekend: Walk the Line and Harry Potter. I heard that the final version of WTL is 2:15 hrs long and the Potter film is just shy of 3 hours. I really don’t fancy sitting in a movie theatre for almost six hours. Can they not just somehow combine the two - like maybe Ron and Hermione can go on a date to a Johnny Cash concert?? And June Carter can be appointed by Dumbledore to be the next Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher (after the crap she put up with, she certainly seems capable of handling anything the wizarding world can dish out). *shrugs shoulders*
Board Meetings this weekend - *refrains from banging head against the wall*. At least this is the last time I have to attend until February. Thank Heavens for small miracles!!
Migraine is ensuing - I really don’t want it to come tonight. Can it not wait till next Monday??
It stopped snowing out.
Joaquin Phoenix is EVERYWHERE!! *she says this like somehow it is a ‘bad’ thing* Geez, give the poor guy a rest. He looks exhausted. Tonight: Conan O’Brien = no sleep for Lady Croft.
Urgh, I have to pack tonight.
Nov 24th is the one year anniversary of attending my first live performance of JCS. I say this because sometime next week I will be attending yet another production of JCS. It seems to be an annual tradition.
Oh dear….umm, errr, HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY TO GERARD BUTLER. Sorry dude, kind of got a little busy this past week and well, hey, what do you care? It’s not like you probably didn’t have quite the celebration in Montreal this past weekend. In fact, I’m still awaiting the E! Talk Daily update on that little fiasco. What does that make you now??? All of 36 (41). You still look great for your age - gods bless and have a great year. And maybe, if the planets are favourably aligned, you may actually get the chance to make a quality film that will be released to an adoring mass audience. In fact, that is my birthday wish for you. Good luck with that.
Nov 13 also happens to be the birthday of :
- A fellow employee
- Another fellow employee’s boyfriend
- Niviene ’s nephew (for whom we partook of a small birthday party that was mildly entertaining)
Apparently the night of Feb 13 tends to get very *ahem* busy.
TV - I wouldn’t know - I’ve been too busy. LOST - I think they did a catch-up episode last night re: the ‘other’ survivors. Hmmm. ALIAS - not really into it since Vaughan died. NIGHT STALKER - oh, it was cancelled. No surprise there. I’m going to miss it though. GILMORE GIRLS - WTF? Why give Luke a daughter?? Rory’s back at home. Well that is good - but the fact that she actually left school and lived with her grandparents still seems quite unrealistic IMO. NIP/TUCK Christian - 'nuf said. EVERYBODY HATES CHRIS - love this show. ROME - kind of slow for a second last episode of the season. Not enough Octavian, not enough Antony (yes I know I say that every week! *whines*). Is it at all possible for Caesar to turn the dagger on Brutus ‘cause damn he is boring me to tears? When does Agrippa show up? (Agrippa/Octavian - ya, you know what I’m thinking!! *raises eyebrow*)
Books - still working my way through Labyrinth *no pun intended* It is not that I am not enjoying it and eager to continue…I’ve just been way toooooo busy. Back to normal reading schedule on Monday. Only problem with this book so far is there are way too many characters. I’m having difficulty keeping track of everyone.
Newsflash - the UBERLONG CATCH UP POST has officially come to its end.
Thank you and, in the words of the immortal Jon Bon Jovi, “have a nice day”.
