do you ever get sick of telling yourself to loose weight? why is it that people want to loose weight and be considered beautiful but can't let go of the foods that got them to where they are now? it seems like food is a powerful addiction, is it for you or no?
Yeah, all the time. I spent the better half of my life hating myself because of how I looked and thinking everyone else hated me, too. I've finally started to embrace it and feel comfortable in my own skin but that doesn't make it acceptable. I hate telling myself to lose weight, but I'm the only one who can do anything about it
( ... )
a good trick is not eating after 8pm. it really helps. i just make sure i eat a snack during the day then a meal between 4 and 6 and just drink water or have a little snack and by the time it's 8pm im a little hungry but i feel gross eating cause i know i wont do anything to work it off. you should really try it.
as for food being addictive. i totally believe it is for some people. i know i would never be able to stop eating bagels with all the fixin's and cereal.
i know i wont be able to get in on the healthy range completely, i dont have enough disipline. well, goodluck.
I tend to go to the gym around 10-11pm so I've slowly been getting out of that habit. Haha, I didn't have discipline for a LONG time mostly because I wouldn't gain or lose weight no matter what I did, but I also wasn't working out. It's a slow process though. And thanks, I'll need all the luck I can get, haha.
it doesn't matter what time of the day you eat, so long as you stay at or under your recommended daily calorie intake. i am a female around your age and my nutritionist told me to eat 1500 calories to maintain, and 1300 to lose.
you should try to eat five small meals/snacks per day. if you don't get enough calories, your body will switch to starvation mode and cling on to every single thing you eat. being healthy > being thin. i personally think you are awesome either way.
This is going to sound so stupid, but you mean eat 2800 calories a day, right?
I take vitamins and do little things that are forcing me to eat 3 times day. A big obstacle is I'm sooo bad at counting calories. I don't measure things and I'm going to eat what I want when I want it, you know? It's more about making smarter choices for me than it is measuring 8 ounces or a tablespoon of everything. That would drive me insane.
I definitely agree: healthy > thin. And thanks. :)
you should eat 1500 calories per day to maintain the weight you are at now. you should eat 1300 if you want to lose weight. not 2800.
My nutritionist told me that a female at the age of 20 burns 1500 calories per day just by existing. That is to say, if you were in a coma and unable to do ANYTHING, you would burn 1500 through bodily functions alone (breathing and such).
I've tried the whole weight watchers thing before, but it never worked for me. I can't stand measuring out my food and dieting just makes me angry (and when I'm angry I eat more!) I try to eat a variety of foods: two servings of starches, two servings of protiens, three servings of vegetables, three servings of fruits, one dairy, and one fat per day. I generally just estimate as to how much qualifies as a "serving" and keep kind of keep track of calories in my head. Its worked out pretty well for me--I've lost a pretty significant amount of weight.
Again, I have never been the type of person to count calories. I'll keep it in mind, though. I don't understand the pyramid thing, I just try and use common sense when I eat. A good for you, that's awesome :D
hahah. you know who i am now. i forgot the whole anonymous thing. but anywyays. it does matter if you don't go to the gym or work out that often. say i don't go to the gym that often but I'm not sitting around, I'm off doing something during the day; if i keep eating past the time i am home and in bed then there is no way for me to burn off those calories. so i stop eating at 8 because after that i am usually just sitting around at my house. make sense?
Ahaha, it's okay. And yeah, makes sense. I think in a way this explains my eating habits. I get hungry really late at night but then I think, dude, this is going to be laying in my stomach for 8 hours... and that grosses me out. Henceforth sometimes I just won't eat. Haha, does that make me a fattorexic? I don't know. I'm trying to smarten up a bit. Breaking habit is hard, though.
