I may have never seen "The Manchurian Candidate", but this episode reminds me a LOT of the plot...mainly because this assassin is not acting like themselves...
And this is why I specifically stopped on this frame-
Rumpel: -insane evil giggling- I've got a cloak! I'VE GOT A CLOAK!
Durza: ...wanker.
40-We last left off when James and Red were in search of Snow White, but apparently King George's army has caught up to them!
04-"What're you going to do?!" Oh yeah, we know what's she's gonna do...WOLF OUT!
31-Back in the real world, poor Mary Margaret is being photographed for a mug shot. Even though Emma KNOWS she's innocent, she has to do her job. :(
35-We then go back to Fairytale Land, where Snow White is humming this familiar song-
50-Except she is whacking this bird with a broom and calling it vermin. Of course, the fact she's been acting VERY hard to live with is not lost on her dwarf friends...
27-...who have now staged an intervention moderated by Jiminy Cricket. Of course, that is probably not the most bizarre intervention I've seen on a TV show...
25-Except despite their best efforts to make her see how bad she's been, Snow now wants to assassinate the evil queen! (See what I mean by "The Manchurian Candidate"?! She's not acting like herself and she's now wanting to pick off a major figure...only this time, it's personal!)
50-She now walks out with a pickaxe...this can't be good.
05-In the real world, Mary Margaret is not happy that Regina's a part of the interrogation process. Especially when she insisted that she wanted to be there to make sure Emma is impartial. I'm betting Regina has no intention of being impartial, as she's bringing up that affair.
04-And Mary Margaret is puzzled as to who had taken her jewelry box out of her apartment...but of course, Regina makes it worse, and we figure she's still holding that grudge from Fairytale Land...
00-...which makes Emma ticked off that Regina's not letting her do her job. But then Regina suggests that there might not have been evidence of a break in and that Mary Margaret went nutso cuckoo bananas.
30-In Fairytale land, Snow White has captured one of the queen's guards, but not without going a bit Patrick Bateman on this poor guy. He tells her what she needs to know, but not before she whacks him in the leg and steals his armor. Grumpy catches up with her and figures there's one thing to do-go back to the root of the problem.
59-In the real world, Emma has been inspecting the apartment for ANY signs of a break-in. The doors and windows okay, but she's joined by Henry, who's skipped school in order to help Emma out. His idea of a motive for Regina framing Mary Margaret (Which is "Because she hates Snow White) is probably not something that'll hold up in court.
10-Then they hear a strange rattling coming from the heating vent in the floor...and there's a clean dagger wrapped in a cloth!
55-Poor Henry's upset. He goes to Granny's Diner for a hot cocoa topped with cinnamon (Being served by Ruby, who's gone back to the diner she'll run after Granny retires) and August grabs a seat next to him. He knows some people need to see proof, but others need to just believe. And he also knows those stories actually happened.
BTW, it turns out he had actually added a story to the book while restoring it, though I'm not sure if Henry's noticed that by now.
04-In Fairytale Land, Prince James has come upon the naked and therefore freezing knight while on the trail of Snow White. This guy tells the prince everything he knows, and James can't believe it.
57-In the real world, David's gone to Regina's office, as he knows Mary Margaret couldn't have murdered Kathryn. She then tells him, "Evil isn't born, it's made." And he says, "With all due respect, Regina, I don't think you could know much about being evil." -facepalm- Of course, he doesn't know who could've done it, and he wants to know what happened during those blackouts. "Evil doesn't always look evil, sometimes it's staring right at us, and we don't even realize it." (Yeah, that sounds a little too suspicious...)
20-When Mary Margaret is given the news about the dagger being found in her heating vent, she's incredibly confused, as she doesn't even know where it is! Emma still knows she's innocent, but advises her to find a lawyer. And out of nowhere, Mr. Gold is there, offering his legal services. Yeah, his kind of help is probably not the thing you should be asking for...though she tells Emma to do the best she can to prove her innocence. Though his reason for being invested in her future is (say it with me) sus-pic-iouuuus....
14-In Fairytale Land, that root of the problem is Rumpel, and that evil J-Rocker tells Grumpy that the potion has taken away ALL of her love, and there's no easy way to get it back. Besides, love is perhaps the ONLY magical essence he doesn't have in his collection. What's worse, he's encouraging Snow's desire for revenge, especially with the bow and arrow he's given her. And even worse, she'll be lost to the dark side if she goes through with it. Despite Grumpy trying to talk her out of it, Snow's still keen to do it even if she has nothing to give him this time, but Rumpel tells her he's 'invested in her future'...oh NO...
25-In the real world, upon Dr. Whale's suggestion of therapy, David goes to see Dr. Hopper, in hopes of figuring out what happened during those blackouts.
48-Back at Rumpel's manor, James has come for info on Snow White, and Rumpel has told him that she's drank that potion BECAUSE of the heartache he caused her! James demands the effects of it be changed with 'twoo luv' (As Rumpel puts it), though he won't tell him unless he gives him something. And that's his cloak. Which we later find out has a reason behind it... As Rumpel tells James about Snow's whereabouts, he also tells him that if Snow takes the queen's life, she could become just as evil as the person whose life she takes. Uh oh. And "Evil isn't born, dearie, IT'S MADE!" (Seems this show is pretty much repeating itself to make a point. ;) )
50-Again, I could just picture Rumpel dancing around with that cloak, singing "I've got a cloak!" and Durza just staring at him. :) Someone please make fanart of that.
55-Snow is perched to fire that shot when James grabs her and tries to kiss her...but it doesn't work because she doesn't feel anything for him!
31-In the real world, Henry tries to convince Emma that some skeleton keys he 'found' would open any door. After a few tries, it's not apparent until she tries the last one...and it opens the door. -shocked-
46-In Fairytale Land, to elaborate from earlier, even though she's tied him to a tree, he's still adamant about changing her mind. Yeah, not gonna work now...
50-Back in Dr. Hopper's office, David is undergoing hypnotherapy and realizes that the phone call wasn't as bad as it seemed (Although she was still pretty hurt and wanted to leave on good terms), but his memories of Mary Margaret are his memories of Snow White wanting revenge! And he thinks it's the same in the real world! AAAARGH!!!!
30-Back to James being tied to the tree, and Jiminy comes to help him by explaining what was going on and dispensing some valuable advice. And to chew on the rope. The next day, Snow is about to commit regicide during the queen's procession, and James takes a, uh, an arrow for her to prove that point. He'd rather die than have her go to the dark side. Even though it works, I wonder why the hell she didn't pull that damn arrow out first thing...
03-Of course, King George's army finds them (One of those knights pulls out that arrow...THANK YOU!), and now he's being sent to the dungeons as he's broken off the merger to the two kingdoms by reuniting Abigail and Frederick. Oh no...
01-In the real world, David has come to see Mary Margaret, but unfortunately, he can't really tell that what he remembered WASN'T from this reality. And this makes her upset that he can't stand by her innocence when she did the same for him. If they only knew...
13-In Fairytale Land, Snow White has come back to make amends with the dwarves. They're not won over by her present of a new stein, but she explains that's the only thing she could physically replace after how she was acting. With her seven friends forgiving her, they're now on a quest to rescue James.
04-Back to Mary Margaret in the jail cell, making the bed. She discovers one of those skeleton keys, and to her surprise, it opens the cell door! Could it have been left by Mr. Gold?
15-Speaking of that, Emma's come in with breakfast, but even though she knows she shouldn't be speaking to his client, and the lab results don't look good. They say that it was Kathryn's DNA and she's dead. And it does not look good for Mary Margaret, even though Emma knows it's a frame-up. But with all the times Emma's gone up against Regina, it has never worked out in her favor. This is not good enough for Mary Margaret...you don't think she'd do something rash, do you?
However, I don't think that Kathryn's dead. Remember that secret vault Regina has with all those hearts? And I don't think she'd murder anyone that DIDN'T remember their fairytale pasts. I'm still standing by my convictions that she's been thrown into the secret mental ward.
11-In the back room of Mr. Gold's shop (Where he's tending to a familiar looking lamp), Emma is asking for his help, although we all know what happened LAST time. Again, this is not going to bode well for anyone.
25-In Fairytale Land, we find out just WHY Rumpel wanted James' cloak and Snow's hair...remember when he said he didn't have essence of love? Apparently a hair from each of them was just enough. What he'll use it for, we don't know.
20-And remember when I said I hope Mary Margaret doesn't do anything rash? Does an empty jail cell look like it could've been SOMETHING rash?
