Who made it go that quickly? one minute it is Christmas Eve and I am feeling so good about my feet - and they are doing just great. The next it is New Year's day and I am feeling decidedly over-stuffed and in need of a few days salad and light eating.
Santa came to our house and we took loads of pictures of presents being opened carefully and a wonderful dolls house being played with. We all had marvellous presents. I had the Creature Comforts America DVD and the Alan Bennett Talking Heads DVD and a paper-making kit that looks dead good if a little messy. We had a free-range turkey so I didn't itch after eating it then we all sat around played games with Em and people arrived with more gifts then it was teatime so we ate some more and the sat around and talked and sleazed a while and it was a really quiet relaxed christmas.
Boxing Day Eldest Son called in, bringing his daughter back home to her mum. We talked and laughed a lot and then had the most magical lunch. For some reason from the moment I put the table cloth onto the table it was as if everything slid into place and the lunch just happened. We all sat around the table - and bear in mind that Mr M and I don't drink - Daugher and s-i-l were relaxed, really relaxed and not putting on a show as sometimes happens. Eldest son was less guarded than I have seen him for ages and my D-i-L was the most relaxed and talkative that she has ever been. Pregnancy obviously agrees with her and she is blooming.
She is also getting a bit fed up now with only three weeks to go until the baby is born and she talked about it.
The food was good and plentiful but mostly light stuff. Cooked meats, salad, crisps and tortillas and dips light fresh bread rolls and sparkling water. We sat for over an hour talking and eating and it has made such an impression on me because it was just about the best lunch ever!
Daughter & family went to Putney to visit S-i-L brother and family so we had the house to ourselves for two days and that was good too. They came home for New Year's Eve and we had a bit of fun compiling our dead pools for 2009. They are now on the cupboard door ready for this year's challenge.
So we have had a wonderful holiday. Mr M goes back to work tomorrow so life will be back to the usual round. I have managed to Journal most of my Christmas and I will be putting the photographs into the album/journal in the next few weeks. I will photograph the pages and get them onto Flickr pretty soon.
So Happy New Year everybody, Happy New Year!
