it's thin as paper while it slips away from view

Awww, lookit the pretty boys in my icon! ♥

So, new episode, finally--stupid one-week breaks.  Can I just say I loved old!Dean?  I thought the actor imitated Jensen really well--plus, he was just funny.  I'm finally beginning to see some of this "funniest season yet" they kept gabbing on about--for the first few episodes it promised to be just as depressing as season 4, but episodes like this and 5.05 just make me giggle endlessly.  It's nice to have some just brother-brother time, without any OMGOURRELATIONSHIPHAZISSUES crap or angelsdemonsapocalypse!stuff--not that that's not all well and good, but sometimes you just need a break, y'know? ;)

That said, I really did like the brotherly relationship this particular episode--it was back to the good ol' Sam-and-Dean-desperately-need-each-other-to-be-alive plot, which was fun.  There were one or two heartwarming (in a creepy codependent way, of course (like there's any other with these two)) moments there, only slightly ruined by the fact that Dean was not Jensen-shaped. XD  One thing does bother me, though--I want to know how much of Sam's panic-mode at the end there was him just pretending.  I know that it couldn't all have been completely sincere, thus the whole, I-played-the-other-guy-just-like-we-discussed, you-really-had-me-going there stuff, but then, what Patrick said was true--Sam does tend to get hyper-emotional when it's about his brother (understatement).  So I'm just curious as to how much of that panic he was actually faking/exaggerating for witch!dude.

And now that I'm mentioning questions I have, one's been bothering me for a while: so, Sam is Lucifer's vessel, woo-hoo big surprise.  BUT--since we know that the entire myth arcs of all five seasons have been connected in Lucifer and Azazel's nefarious plot, involving all the special!children, etc., blah blah blah--what if Sam hadn't won that whole Hunger Games shtick?  I mean, obviously he didn't, but what if he had actually stayed dead and whatshisface--the guy who killed him--had stayed the leader of the demon!army or whatever?  Would HE have been Lucifer's vessel?  Would Sam have been brought back from the dead to be Lucifer's vessel?  What about all this "it always had to be you, Sam"--was there really no way that Sam could have not survived the other children, and if so, what the heck was the point of having the others?  I is mighty confuzzled.

Speaking of, why are Sam and Dean (or even Chuck) still worried about dying?  Isn't it already established that if either of them die, they'll just be brought back to life in order to be angel condoms?  Or maybe being brought back means you have to say yes, or else you stay dead?  I'm not quite sure.

Okay, one more thing, but first SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT--if you don't like to be spoiled about anything past the episodes that have already aired, stop reading for one paragraph.  Quick, scroll past.  Squeeze your eyes shut if you have to.  I'll make it brief.  And also a different color.  Because I know I hate getting spoiled when I don't want to be.

So Kristin said that two fan favorites would be dying soon--except I really cannot for the life of me figure out who that would be.  Sam and Dean--whatever.  They've died before, they probably will again, but they can't stay dead, so yeah.  Castiel?  I really super doubt it.  They put him in the credits, he's obviously got a huge fanbase and really helped the show, and--I just can't see it.  Chuck wouldn't make any sense, because they've already established that they'd bring him back to life, and he's not likely to die anyway with Raphael looking out for him, and it would really make no effing sense for him to die before completing the Winchester Gospel.  And Bobby, after this episode--Dean saying he couldn't go on without him--I just don't see it happening at this point.  So...who the heck else is a fan favorite capable of dying?  There really aren't that many people on this show.  Maybe Anna?  Does she qualify?  Or a favorite villain, like the Trickster?  Any theories?

END SPOILER ALERT NOW, YO.

So, in summation, Dean was hilarious (his skipping at the end?  Genius.  And very Jared-esque, I approve), Bobby was awesome as always, with a big touch of awww, and Sammy's growing up! XD  It's good to have non-darkside-Sam back, though, if only for bits at a time.

Oh, and WHO ELSE IS EXCITED FOR NEXT WEEK'S EPISODE?  I AMMMMM!  THIS IS GONNA BE AWESUM.
