so since thanksgiving, i've been on this 80% raw vegan diet, and it's really done wonders for my health and outlook... i've kind of fallen though, the past three or four days. it all started the night of my poetry class's reading, where everyone was so drunk and adorable, that i couldn't resist a little wine. and then when the lovely professor ( Read more... )

well, i think the main reasons people go raw are to create less of an environmental impact (buying less packaging), and also to detoxify the body... and there's also the whole concept about how enzymes break down at around 106 degrees, rendering much nutritional value "dead." for me, eating raw was more just a decision to eat consciously. it's probably the same for a lot of raw foodists. there are a lot of raw food sites out there, i'd recommend checking out www.goneraw.com for recipes and www.welikeitraw.com for interviews. i've also been reading this guy's blog, http://rawmodelcom.blogspot.com/ for some company/encouragement.

anyway, if you're thinking about going raw, i couldn't recommend it enough. i tend to be pretty skeptical about such things, but even after just a week, it was like this incredible spiritual and physical catalyst. my body felt better than its felt in years, absolutely energized and "alive." the first couple of days were mildly hard, but overall it was amazing! it was kind of almost like a drug; it's weird to think that the sexy/creative lucidity that raw food inspires is reality and so much of the rest is just the by-product of a highly processed diet.

sorry, hope i'm not rambling, ladio.
