I can tell McCain used to be an honest man, because he now believes what comes out of his own mouth, even when it's comprised of 63% bullshit and 29% lies. (The rest is the wishful thinking of someone trying to believe the hype -- and I refer to the speechwriter's desperation, not the Senator's.) He chokes on the words, but then shows relief, as if he's feeling better for having confessed. I think his cynicism is growing, but at heart he's a true believer, who thinks he can save us. That poor old man. Srsly.
It's better than believing he really is walking in Reagan's footsteps, and experiencing early onset Alzheimer's. (I am still not joking.)
Palin, on the other hand, is a voracious bloodsucker. Voting against sex ed, birth control, and choice, then condemning your minor child to an odious marriage to a self-described "fuckin' redneck" who says he doesn't want kids and has no interest in marriage? Thanks, Ma! Republican Family Values in Technicolor and 3-D.
Honestly, how stupid (not just mean, but STUPID) must a woman be to vote down sex ed? It's not as if the children are coming home saying, "Oh, Mummy, I learned three new fellatio techniques today! I think that's what I want to major in at university!"
It's BIOLOGY, people! Children aren't born knowing these things! As a sometime farm kid and child of a vet's assistant, I knew from the cradle that humans work under most of the same rules as Our Furry Friends -- but the kids from town? I heard the most ludicrous rumors passing for science. Fortunately, my nutbar right-wing community (again, mostly farmers and ranchers) voted overwhelmingly to pass funding for in-school Sex Ed. Dog nose they didn't want to have to talk to the kids about this themselves!
Schools can teach reproductive biology, but if the parents haven't taught the children ethics (or even morals) (nor cultivated enough love and trust for the kid to ask Ma for help joining the Birth Control Patrol) , it's Epic Parental Fail until kidlet is out from under the influence.
But how can Palin do that to anyone, especially her own flesh and bone and blood? I can't tell if it's utter vanity or deep self-loathing. Her college photo (wearing a t-shirt that says "I may be broke but I'm not flat busted") does not shed light in either direction.
