Summary: Insecurities overwhelmed Takaki when Shoon began reminiscing about his AiQ days with Massu.
Disclaimer: I own nothing.
It was a morning like any other, the sun shining brightly in the sky. A peaceful morning breeze entered from the open window of Shoon’s room. University exams had just ended, and all assignments had been sent. Shoon slept serenely. Everything was perfect after working hard the last few weeks.
Or so he’d thought.
His door slammed open, and suddenly someone was on him, awaking him with a start. “Shoonie, Shoonie Shoonie,” the intruder exclaimed, jumping up and down.
Poor Shoon tiredly rubbed his eyes, staring at the newcomer blankly. “Yuya?” Shoon stifled a yawn. “What are you doing here?”
“You’re taking me shopping today, remember?” Takaki grinned widely. Shoon gave the other boy a confused look. “You forgot?” Takaki pouted, his lower lip trembling.
“Sorry, it was a tough week,” Shoon sighed. “Anyways, how did you get in?”
“Your mom let me in,” Takaki answered as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
‘Well duh,’ Shoon added mentally.
Takaki got off Shoon and pulled the older boy to his feet. “You better head off to the shower, mister, or you’ll miss the wonderful breakfast,” he said cheekily before running out of Shoon’s room.
To which Shoon shook his head, smiling at boy’s antic. On his way out of the room, Shoon accidentally stepped on something hard. He smiled when he saw what it was, memories returning to him. It was one of his AiQ skit tapes that his mother taped for him. Shoon replaced it on his video shelf before heading to the bathroom.
After going to a few stores, Shoon and Takaki decided to have lunch. “Argh, what should I eat? Ramen or soba?” Takaki asked himself out loud, his face scrunched as if he were stuck in the middle of some dire dilemma.
Shoon sighed at the younger one’s indecisiveness. Suddenly, however, the ramen in front of him was gone, to be replaced by an all-too similar event with ramen from his past.
It was the first filming of one of his and Massu’s AiQ skits. The theme that day was ramen. Shoon chuckled, remembering the part where he picked up the miniature dog statue and placed it at Massu’s lips when the older guy asked for a kiss.
“Shoonie, are you listening to me?” Takaki asked, snapping Shoon out of his thoughts.
“Sorry, Yuya. What is it?”
“Should I order ramen or soba?” Takaki pouted.
Shoon mentally kicked himself. He loved Yuya and all, but sometimes, he was just too much to handle. Back then, during the AiQ skit filming with Massu, it had been so much less complicated, even despite all of Massu’s demanding questions. Sure, they’d just been a ‘pretend’ couple, but Shoon couldn’t help but wish everything could have been so easy.
“Shoonieee~!!! You’re not listening!” Takaki exclaimed, pouting again. Shoon just inwardly groaned.
After lunch, Takaki and Shoon continued shopping in the Harajuku area. One other thing Shoon hated despite being a Johnny was shopping for clothes. And knowing Yuya, this would take awhile, and they still had a lot of other stores to cover.
“Shoon?”
Shoon looked up when he heard his name being called. A smile appeared on his face when he saw who it was. “Massu...”
Massu eyed Shoon, then asked, “Shopping with Takaki-kun?”
“How’d you know?”
“Well, this doesn’t seem like your taste does it?” Massu said, referring to the clothes in the boutique. He took a seat across from Shoon.
Shoon laughed. “You really are a good wife, aren’t you, Honey?” He shook his head. “I can’t believe you still remember that. It’s not like I bother remembering anything about you.” That was a lie, of course.
“You are such a charmer, brat.” Massu playfully smacked Shoon’s arm. Shoon just smirked at the older man. Suddenly, a whine caused both of them to look towards the entrance of the boutique.
Tegoshi was standing by the doorway, a pout on his face. “Massu, you’re supposed to help me find some clothes.”
Massu sighed as he got to his feet. “I guess I have to go now,” he smiled at the younger man. “It’s nice to see you again, Shoon.”
Takaki crept from behind Shoon as their two seniors left. “Was that Massu?”
“Yeah,” Shoon replied, a smile on his face.
A frown spread on Takaki’s face, however, when Shoon turned to face him, he replaced it with a smile. “So what do you think?” He was wearing a leather jacket over a black shirt, with similar black leather pants covering his legs. Takaki did a 180 degree circle.
“I think you look sexy,” Shoon whispered in his boyfriend’s ear as he leaned for a kiss.
It was almost midnight when Takaki finally decided to call Shoon. He dialed Shoon’s number and smiled when the latter picked up the phone.
“Hey, baby,” Shoon said, making Takaki smile.
“Hi, Shoonie,” he replied. “What are you up to?”
Takaki heard Shoon chuckle. “I’m rewatching the AiQ skits Massu and I were in.”
“Hey… do you… miss filming those AiQ skits? Do you miss Massu?”
“Now that you mention it, I do miss filming,” Shoon confessed. “Massu too.”
“I see…” Takaki said. There was a pregnant pause before Takaki stated, “I don’t want to see you tomorrow. Don’t come searching for me.”
After Takaki hung up, Shoon just stared at his phone, wondering what happened. Takaki, on the other hand, threw himself on his bed and began dialing a number.
“’Sup~?” a hyper voice said.
“Hey,” Takaki threw himself on his bed. “Want to hang out tomorrow?”
The following day during lunch break, Shoon was on his way to JUMP’s dressing room when Yabu passed him.
“Hey.” Shoon greeted his old bandmate.
“Hey,” Yabu replied. “Looking for Takaki?” When Shoon nodded, Yabu added in, “I think it’s best if you avoid him for today. He seems kinda mad at you.”
Shoon sighed. “That time of the month?”
Yabu shrugged. “Both he and Inoo could make a really great combo for girly moments.”
Shoon laughed at Yabu’s joke. After saying goodbye, he made his way down the hall. It was in the cafeteria, after getting his soda from the vendor machine, that he saw a familiar face.
“Why hello, Honey,” Shoon purred, hovering in front of Massu. The older man laughed when he looked up from his lunch.
“Darling,” Massu whined, just like old times. “What’s up?” he asked.
“Ah, just the usual,” Shoon shrugged. “I’m avoiding Yuya, or rather, I’m supposed to. It seems like it’s that time of the month or something.” Shoon winked.
“Ah, I see,” Massu said. He pushed a chair in front of him. “Have a seat.” Shoon grinned as he took the offered seat.
Meanwhile, on the rooftop of the jimusho, two young men were sitting on the ground while eating their lunch.
“You know, I’ve been meaning to ask you, Yuuyan,” Tegoshi began with his mouth full.
“What?”
“Why’d you suddenly want to eat lunch with me today?” Tegoshi tilted his head. “Not that I mind, but it’s just kind of odd because you’re always clinging to Shoon.”
“I am not!” Takaki’s face flushed, to which Tegoshi raised an eyebrow. “Okay, maybe I did.” After a few seconds of silence, Takaki voiced out, “Tesshi, do you think Shoon would have ended up with Massu if I wasn’t in the picture?”
“Not a chance,” Tegoshi replied, grinning at his young friend. “Because Massu is mine.” He added in, “And because Shoon loves you.”
Takaki chuckled. “That’s cheesy,” he said.
“Honestly, I think Massu and Shoon have a bond that we don’t understand,” Tegoshi exclaimed. “They’d been filming as a married couple for awhile during the AiQ skits, but that was in the past. The important thing is Shoon chose you. You’re the one he loves, Yuuyan.”
“God, seriously you’re cheesy,” Takaki laughed.
Tegoshi stood up and pulled Takaki to his feet. “I did make you laugh though, didn’t I?” he grinned goofily. “Now, throw away all your negative thoughts and let’s hunt down our men.”
“Yeah!” Takaki agreed, linking his hand with the other’s.
A few minutes later, they found Massu and Shoon chatting in the cafeteria.
“Shoonie!”
“Massu~!”
Takaki and Tegoshi excitedly called out their respective boyfriend’s names. Shoon and Massu looked up and saw both Yuya’s looking at them with bright smiles stretched across their faces.
“Ne, ne, ne,” both Takaki and Tegoshi said at the same time, seeking their lovers’ attention.
Shoon and Massu simply rolled their eyes, Massu giving Shoon’s back a slight pat, wishing him good luck. Tegoshi winked at Takaki before they both walked off, respective boyfriends in tow.
