When (and if) the Chef and I get to have our compound in the hill country, tinywarrior is allowed to have all the chickens she wants there. She calls them, "Friendship Chickens™" which is the best phrase in the history of friendship.

You can have two chicken coops. Fancy lookin at chicken and eatin chickens.

i would feel too sorry for the eatin chickens! i'd probably rather give him a fancy one after a few years, because at least they'd had fancy lives.

yeah, they're beautiful. i was shocked when she turned me onto the different, gorgeous varieties. i'm pretty sure they don't even poop, they're so glamorous.

an old creative director of mine recently built this MAGNIFICENT, huge (i mean huge) chicken coop for his back yard. he's been posting pics of it on fb, along with the hens. he did these mug shots of each one, along with their names (which are also fabulous), and i was amazed at the variety. there are some gorgeous ones out there.

I have 4 hens...one is actually exactly like the pic of the first one, a white silkie..named Baby June after Gypsy Rose Lee's daughter. I have one golden bantam hen named Heloise and 2 Mille Fleur Cochins named Buttercup and Marigold because...well they just needed to be :)

And they are SO ADORABLE. I need to have pics of them here..but I so love having cuddly little hens.

I just re-read this and I am so weird.

But I love my little old lady hens, they are awesome and they come when you call them.

these are the most beautiful hens and i am very jealous. someday, we'll be those crazy old broads who put up pictures for each other everyday, and tell each other the cute things they've gotten up to.
