Okay, so I've been following y'all's recommendations for downloaded serieseses, and it took me a couple of months but I got through "Six Feet Under" and HOLY SHIT what a good show.  It's so fantastic to watch these excellent shows from beginning to end with few pauses in between the episodes...I really appreciated the final season (especially the ( Read more... )

My take on the ones I've seen candyctdrebar January 12 2010, 14:40:12 UTC
Entourage: Seen a few episodes. Would love to get into it but lack the time.

Carnivale: Hello, creepy midget headquarters. No thanks.

The Tudors: I loved this but lost track of it about the middle of 3rd season when we shuit off cable to simplify our lives.

Weeds: I fucking love this show so hard. You can empathize with Nancy half of the time and the other half you want to bash her face in. My favorite characters are her brother-in-law and her youngest son.

The Big Bang Theory: I go next door just to be able to watch this show every Monday. That's how much I love this show. Sheldon Cooper is so socially awkward it takes a minute to get used to him but once you do, you're in love.

Rome: Only saw the first season. Loved it.
Saving Grace: I loved the show. The angel, Earl, cracks me up. I think that is precisely how guardian angels should act.

The Mighty Boosh: Watch at least 4 episodes before you pass judgement. the first time I watched it, I was like "what the ever loving fuck?". Now, every episode makes me laugh even harder ( ... )

I loved it, but one frustrating aspect of Carnivale is how the narrative is stretched out without any explanation.

Lodz: "I know what's going on. If you listen to me, I can explain everything"
Ben: "Go to Hell!"

three episodes later

Lodz "Are you ready to listen to me now?"
Ben: "Go to Hell!"

I don't see Mad Men on the list. One of the bestest.

I really liked Carnivale, but I have to admit I wished the story moved a bit faster. I liked the imagery and the sort of creepiness of it though. I was annoyed when they canceled it because I never got to see the end of the story.

Anthony Bourdain did an episode that was very atypical for him... It was on Laos. He didn't say he was in the Vietnam War so one would assume that he wasn't, but he was obviously effected in a big way. I've never seen him so respectful for or since. It was well done. I loved it. Be sure to see that one!

i saw the laos one and i agree. he's in love with that part of the world, its history and people. if i'm not mistaken, he and his wife have a second (or third) home there.
