I can see through the distance.

The best way to start is at the beginning, an introduction of sorts.

My name is Lacy Jae. I am a Silversmith and general artist with focus on wearable work. I enjoy drawing, painting, digital work, web design, hot glass, photography, cloth dyeing and painting, silkscreening, and print media. I love to travel, and hope to make it everywhere in the world before I die. Currently, I’ve been across Canada, to a large portion of the States, I spent a few days in Hong Kong, and I have been to Australia twice (with a third trip coming up this May!). I am a full-time student at the Alberta College of Art + Design in my hometown of Calgary, Alberta. I have a large Maine coon cat, Mi-Go, an orange corn snake, Coatlicue, and a rescued Italian greyhound, Mouse. I have a lovely boyfriend named Glynn (click the link to Faolan’s Pen for his writing blog!) who is just wonderful, and I plan to marry him one day.
I love to bake, and cook, and go out dancing, hang out with friends, drive, watch horror movies (and any movies, really, to be honest), read… I am a gamer geek, I have played tabletop games off and on since the late 90s, I was involved in LARP for a number of years, and I love playing video games with Glynn on date nights and by myself when I find the time.

I am an Ovarian Cancer survivor. I was diagnosed when I was 22, after six months of unexplained illness. I had eight months of chemo, and I have been cancer free for five years. It still colors so much of my life, but it has also brought me back to my art, and to really living. I am a different person than I used to be, and I like who I am.

I decided to start this blog to have a space to share my many loves. I want to play with makeup and share my results. I want to review BPAL perfumes. I want to share recipes. I want people to have a way to keep up to date on me, and not just on my work (Lacy Jae Designs Blog is off to the side there). I will be posting on a variety of topics, and I hope that you find it interesting!
