Yay! As announced in that frustrated rant earlier, here's the summary for Castle Mango chapter 6 :D
We all remember how chapter 5 ended, right? Shirosaki accompanied Haruhi to the fireworks. Togame spotted them there on what seemed like a double date, though he didn't meet up with Shirosaki in the end, but went back home instead.
Chapter 6 starts with Shirosaki coming over to Togame's place (just as he had thought he would do later while being at the fireworks). Togame asks him shortly if the fireworks were nice, he doesn't bid Shirosaki to come in, though. Shirosaki then asks himself if he could come in; Togame declines that, saying that his room is a mess because of all the work that has piled up. Shirosaki doesn't argue with that, but he thinks that it doesn’t really look that bad…
After some awkward silence between the two of them Togame asks with whom Shirosaki went to see the fireworks and Shirosaki tells him that it was with Haruhi. Togame sighs at this and says that it's quite late already so Shirosaki best go home for now. On his way back home Shirosaki wonders if Togame is angry with him for declining his invitation of going to the fireworks together, but it *was* Haruhi whom he promised to go with first, after all…
Three days later (and Shirosaki seems to be on his way to Togame's apartment while he is thinking this)… and Togame hasn't contacted him at all… even if he went to his apartment he only stood in front of a locked door. Shirosaki thinks that they were supposed to go on vacation together and as of now summer holidays are almost over already… and that when he was so looking forward to it…!
Having reached the apartment Shirosaki does indeed manage to run into Togame, who looks quite troubled at this and asks him what he's doing here (Togame, you idiot!) Shirosaki doesn't really know what to make out of this... "He actually asked me what I'm doing here… Can't I just come over without a reason?" He asks Togame then if it would be okay for him to study at his place for a while. Togame declines, though. He's having someone coming over to visit him and he was about to pick him up… and just as he says this said someone is calling for him already "HEEELLLOOO! TOGAME~" (He's the guy we saw back in the prologue, isn't he?)
Togame greets him (and wonders how he managed to actually find his way over here… oh the wonders of mobile phones that come with maps in them :D) Shirosaki-when Togame is about to introduce him-actually panics a bit, because he obviously thinks Togame would introduce him as his lover. But NO "He’s someone working at our company." Ouch. Shirosaki doesn’t seem too pleased, either ("He didn't say that I'm the person he's dating right now…"). Togame and his friend keep talking, successfully ignoring Shirosaki (more or less) and they're about to leave. Shirosaki then asks Togame who that guy is…? Togame says it's just an old friend. Shirosaki tries to ask him about their vacation, but Togame's work is really busy right now, so he can't take some time off. And gone he is, with a "I'm really sorry. Goodbye"… and in combination with his expression it just is really kind of… not so nice.
On his way back he thinks that Togame seems kind of cold lately… maybe it's because of that acquaintance who visited him? That person seemed to be about Togame's age… and he also seemed quite cheerful… the opposite of Shirosaki himself, more like Satoru…
At home his mother seems to be not feeling too well. He asks if something was wrong and wants to help her, but she denies and says that everything's fine. Then later he's in front of the computer, analyzing their revenue and wondering how to solve the problems their hotel is currently facing. He then is taken in by an advertisement of some place at Atami… and he thinks that he really wants to go there. And then it hits him… it doesn't have to be summer vacation for him and Togame to go there! So he sends him a message asking him if he was free next Saturday…
And then, in school. Haruhi is texting with some girl (presumably the one with whom he went to the fireworks, Haruma) and Shirosaki asks him if she's fast in replying to his messages. Haruhi says that usually she'd reply back on the same day, at the very least. Shirosaki then asks him what he would think if he wouldn't get an answer for about ten days…? At which Haruhi doesn't know what to say (which is answer enough). Shirosaki explains then… that at first he thought the other person didn't get his mail, so he sent it again… but he still didn't get an answer. Haruhi asks him if that other person is a friend… or if it is the person he likes…? He then says that there are also people who think it's annoying to message each other, "for women for example […] that is… somehow I think… that it's you who got it wrong" At which Shirosaki drops his meal down. Haruhi hurries to correct himself, saying it's not like that and that Shirosaki shouldn't mind him too much and it's only that there also some exceptions who are saying things like that… Shirosaki is out of it, though.
Back at home he's thinking again (and obviously feeling quite down)… that even if he goes over to Togame's apartment he isn't there ither and since the key isn't in the mailbox he also can't wait for him inside. He then remembers Togame's friend he'd met the other day… they seemed to be having quite a good relationship, and Togame seemed to like that guy better… Shirosaki then tells himself that he should get himself together. He would have dumped Togame sometime soon anyway. But.. for Togame to go out with him and then at the same time also cheat on him is just too insincere! … And then he finds himself crying, and is quite shocked about this.
Satoru then comes into his room (and he seems to be quite upset)… their mother has collapsed. Shirosaki tells Satoru to call an ambulance and the next scene is in the hospital. The hospital staff ask for their father (who has died), then for any relatives of their mother (who doesn't have brother or sister). Their uncle (on their father's side) is working in another part of the country and probably can't come over right away… so Shirosaki asks for the doctor to talk with him instead.
Back at home the two brothers are having their meal and Satoru asks if their mother really is alright…? Shirosaki says that yes-just as he has explained right now-their mother is only suffering from exhaustion, but to make sure everything's alright she needs to stay in the hospital for some more days… and for the time being they need to close down the hotel (because their mother isn't there and the both of them are still underage). Sometime later Shirosaki is about to prepare the things he needs to bring over to the hospital for his mother. And just by his thoughts you can see how he's barely able to pull himself together (and how everything is in reality too much for him alone to handle… even though he'd never admit it >.<) "What things do you need when staying in a hospital…? Washing utensils are necessary… Do they have towels and stuff like that over at the hospital? How about change of clothes, how many do I need to prepare…?"
Then there's a flashback of when he was talking with the doctor… his mother is not just exhausted. It's a problem with her heart and she needs to have an operation. But because it's quite a complicated operation, so the risk's pretty high… Back to the present we can see Shirosaki crying again, preparing everything he needs to prepare (and reminds himself that he needs to call his uncle next day), all the while shaking, being visibly upset.
Then there’s a change of scene to Togame, being out drinking with the other guys. Yoshida asks him about his journey to Atami with his boyfriend… at which Togame says it has been canceled. Yoshida is surprised… weren't things going quite smoothly between them? And Togame says that he thinks it'd be better to break up. Seemingly Shirosaki isn't 'only' gay. If he's able to fall in love with a girl it would be better for him, after all he's still young… It kind of goes into the direction of 'Adults should help the youth find the right path' (ugh, seriously?) After some drunken rambling from Yoshida it comes down to Togame saying that he doesn't hold any expectations towards anybody.
Yoshida is overly shocked and says that this also means Togame doesn't really trust other people. Togame says it isn't like that. It's just that no matter how much you like someone there's no way to keep them by your side forever. At which Yoshida says "Ah, I got it! So you're afraid of love?" And Togame says that it could be considered like that, it's up to Yoshida to say whatever he thinks… while on the same panel we can see Shirosaki sleeping, his hand grabbing his mobile phone…
May I say that both of them are idiots? Togame more so than Shirosaki, though. At least Shirosaki has it going for him that he's absolutely adorable that he's young and kind of inexperienced. Well, and granted, he's too proud for his own good, but well. Apart from that, my heart seriously aches for him ._.
I just wish they'd talk to each other (and with each chapter that wish only grows stronger >.>)
Also, I kind of hate that whole "keeping the kids in the dark about their parents' condition"-thing. Satoru is in junior high?! So how old is he... 13? 14? That's not an age at which he should be kept in the dark about something so important (okay, he's quite an airhead, but still...) Geez.
