Henry David Thoreau....

Henry David Thoreau =absolute genious. His writings, "Civil Disobedience", and "Walden", were brillant. Walden (my personal favorite) describes his experiences in some woods. I can't even begin to describe just how great of a read it was, and trust me I'm not too much of a reader, I despise the crap we usually read in English, it's boring, meaningless and has no purpose in my opinion. But this, damn, I need to find more of his writings, here's some random quotes that I thought were very interesting and made me think for quite a while, that's exactly the kind of reading I like, the kind that keeps you thinking, the kind that taps into your brain and screams for more, which is usually science related stuff (mostly biology, gooood stuff), anyway, here are those quotes....

"Time is but the stream I go a-fishing in. I drink at it; but while I drink I see the sandy bottom and detect how shallow it is. Its thin current slides away, but eternity remains. I would drink deeper; fish in the sky, whose bottom is pebbly with stars. I cannot count one. I know not the first letter of the alphabet. I have always been regretting that I was not as wise as the day I was born."

"However mean your life is, meet it and live it; do not shun it and call it hard names. It is not so bad as you are. It looks poorest when you are richest. The fault-finder will find faults even in paradise. Love your life, poor as it is. You may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling, glorious hours, even in a poorhouse. The setting sun is reflected from the windows of the almshouse as brightly as from the rich man's abode; the snow melts before its door as early in the spring. I do not see but a quiet mind may live as contentedly there, and have as cheering thoughts, as in a palace. The towns poor seem to me often to live the most independent lives of any. May be they are simply great enough to receive without misgiving."

"The surface of the earth is soft and impressible by the feet of men; and so with the paths which the mind travels. How worn and dusty, then must be the highways of the world, how deep the ruts of tradition and conformity!"

Those are just a very slight few, don't want to make this too long, read it, you won't be disappointed.
