"Heavy hitter... better give him a little room..."
Crouched and ready to make the play. Staring in at the batter.
The pitch... the swing...
It was a deep drive, sailing towards the fence and perhaps beyond. Turning and immediately in a full sprint back, drawing a bead on the ball. Oh, yeah... this one was a blast, but it could be had. Sprinting back, faster and faster. Here comes the ball and it's playable... not easily, though... going to have to jump.
The leap. "FENCE!!", shouted the Left Centerfielder, but it was too late.
A collision and an abrupt cessation to all forward motion. Head snaps forward and collides with the crossbar at the top of the fence. Glove now stopped, the ball sails 4 inches over it and beyond the fence.
Flung to the ground. Darkness, spotted with some pretty spectacular lights. Try to stand up. Fall. Just stay down... for a while. The pain inside the head is intense.

This was my Monday night. After a pretty spectacular collision involving my entire right side of my body and head, with the fence (which won the standoff, as you might imagine), I was left with several bleeding cuts, including one behind my ear which ended up requiring four stitches (was at the ER until 6am, thankyouverymuch).
Now, I have this marvelous, perpetual headache. I don't like it.
Add insult to injury, I came up JUST short of making the catch, due to the fence. And as a kick to my dog on the way out the door, we lost the game.
I wonder if I have a concussion?
