So yeah, Viz's "Look, we have Prince of Tennis, bitches!" announcement doesn't faze me, as I don't consider something "available for broadcasting" readily available in this country. Especially with Viz's history in particular. That said . . .
OMG OMG VIZ CAME THROUGH FOR US LOOK AT THAT PRICE!!!!!!!! My guess is three episodes, but dude--$20 regular price for subtitles?! Of course I have a Barnes & Noble card (this is ME we're talking about here), so $18 for three episodes of subbed Naruto. I'm content. It's not quite my $5/episode dream, but Naruto is worth $6/ep.
EDIT: Best Buy has it for
$15. I never thought I'd see the $5/ep day. I think I'm going to cry.
I should, in theory, wait for a season one box set or something . . . I don't know. I'm not convinced that Viz is really putting everything it has into Naruto, especially if it's going to be concentrating on Prince of Tennis (*drool*) in the near future. I don't know if we'll even GET a box set, or if we're going to have to wait five years or something. My inner poverty-stricken law school student says, "You can't afford 250 episodes at $18/3!!" But my inner otaku, who is basically in charge of things, says, "SUPPORT THE ANIME! Viz needs your money more than you! Besides--IT'S NARUTO, YOU IDIOT!" Plus, the sooner I buy it legit, the sooner I can delete it from my computer. That's saying a lot, when I've got around 25GB of a single series on there. The big questions are, though, is this a subtitles-ONLY release? And, if so, are they hard subs, or can I turn them off?
Wow, that made my day.
