Ah, sewphisticate. She's what us costuming bloggers aspire to be.

I feel like I've spent my entire Saturday in front of my CRT. So why not update before my eyes start to bleed too much? No sewing, midterms next week. So, a meme! From sewphisticate:

You have been a very extravagant and naughty costumer-dabbling here, dabbling there, and the sewing g*ds are displeased with your flightiness. And so you are condemned to the Land of One.

1. You are limited to sewing costumes from ONE era (I was going to say one decade, but that's too soul crushing). NOTE: If you prefer fantasy or science fiction work, you must limit yourself to ONE movie or book series. Pick!

Oh, too hard!

Rococo.

Well, that wasn't too hard, I suppose.

2. You must choose ONE color to work in for the rest of your life (NOT BLACK. NOT WHITE.) It is...

I choose to take an advantage of the ambiguity of this question! I'd say brown, since I look good in brown and you can lighten it or darken it to be suitable for any era. Light ecru for Regency, rich taupe for Rococo, deep tobacco brown for a scrummy Bustle dress...yes, brown is the color for me.

3. You must choose ONE type of fabric to sew on forever, it is... (and no,"silk" isn't good enough. Nor is "cotton." "Cotton voile," or "silksatin," however, are both suitable answers.)

Hmmm. Hard. Silk lustring, maybe?

4. Why did you choose that ONE fabric you just chose?

That's one that you could probably manage all eras in and be period accurate...I think. I'm not being super careful in my recollections.

5. You can have only ONE costume whore DVD to watch forever. What is it?

Dangerous Liasons. Duh.

6. You can keep only ONE of the costumes you have made. What is it and WHY?

Is is cheating to pick a planned costume? My sky blue sacque-back is gonna be a fun one to wear.

7. You get only ONE website for research, or for diversion. You choose...

Duh, Demode. It's the I Ching of costuming. Good for research AND diversion! And it's run by our fearless leader!

8. You can keep only ONE of your reference books (painful, I know). Which is it and WHY?

Fashion, by the Kyoto Institute. Everytime I look through it, I notice something new.

9. You may keep your machines, your scissors, your chalk, thread and pins, but you may have only ONE other sewing tool. It is...

Seam ripper. The way I costume, I can't live without it.

10. The sewing g*ds are feeling a little guilty about their draconian measures, so you can have ONE costume from a movie, or stolen from someone's (anyone you choose!) closet for inspiration. You take...

Glenn Close's peach sacque-back from Dangerous Liasons. So much pretty! With an échelles stomacher!
