An entry in which I feel strange.

I'm currently in this bizarre warped universe where I'm waiting for something. I don't know what.

I guess a lot of stuff is going to happen this month...maybe I'm waiting for all of it: lab trip to a conference in Cancun (which I'm not going to, so the lab will be essentially closed next week), Christmas, jury duty, New Year's in Pebble Beach, eventual news about my single grad school application, etc. etc. And since our building will be closed over the holiday, I've sort of wound down my experimental schedule so I feel like I'm at a loose end...but I'm dreading January and February when things are really going to be stressful.

Anyways, my general feeling of malaise was inescapable this weekend, despite attending my sister's dance concert on Friday and a massive neighborhood Christmas party on Saturday.

The dance concert was partially awful. Well, that's not really fair. It was almost entirely awful. Bad choreography, bad music, bad dancing. Tee begged us not to come, since she was in one number out of about 50. But came we did and regretted it for the entire, un-ending 3 hour crapfest. Tee is leaving the company after this quarter. She hates the people, the extreme unprofessionalism (nepotism etc.), and the overall lack of talent and training.

But the Christmas party? Awesome. Tee and I showed up at 10:00 pm on Saturday just to say "hi", as she had had a Saturday show as well and I was her ride home. The party had degenerated into drunken swing dancing. So of course we had to join in. Woo! Much more fun than uptight yuppies being snobs about wine ("Nobody is prepared to admit that wine has no taste!"). All the neighbor kids were running around screaming at the top of their lungs, high on sugar cookies, looking like filthy Dickensian urchins. SO festive.

As I'm almost done with my embroidery pattern for my regency, I started thinking about construction and tracing my pattern onto sleeves, etc. But I have realized that my 33" fabric isn't going to work for the main body of the dress ( the dress only have one vertical back seam, instead of being made of panels), so I'm trying to figure out where to get 48" wide muslin without the ability to buy stuff online.
