It is FINISHED!
OK. Someone who's read Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, PLEASE CALL ME. I just read the last page and need some serious nerd time.
I am too in shock that the book progressed and ended exactly as I thought it would to be sad about what happened, as I was fully expecting it from page 1. WHAT'S UP WITH THAT, ROWLING???????

anyways, i was shocked, or somewhat upset about stuff in the ending, but mostly mad about Snape. I really loved his character throughout the books up until this one, and though i still think he's cool, i don't think of him as being quite as cool. It does seem as thought Rowling is finally getting to the point of the series. Voldemort and Harry, and a final showdown. The whole thing is playing out like ... Star Wars? You can take everything for granted, the coolest wisest character gets offed, and a really cool character is really bad, of course the story is good enough and not close enough to scream ripoff at all, which is natural, i don't ever think it was intended, but this particular story left off with more a cliffhanger than the others, and you can see the same kind of developement in the Lemony Snicket books (a series of unfortunate events), with mysteries unfolding but things leaving you with tons of questions.
one thing i'm curious about is that you guessed what woudl happen on page one and were right? thats pretty good, i had vague ideas of what might happen, but really i didn't expect a lot of the stuff right up until the end, like i knew someone would die, but i didn't know it would be who it was (trying to to leave spoilers lying around) and i didn't know who the half blood prince was, I thought it needed to be a known character, but couldn't think of who it would be, i had guesses, but none for who it was.
maybe you're just into it a lot more than I am... one thing i've noticed is that i rarely have anyone to talk to about the book, and it's only when i talk about it a lot do i remember everything i've read, otherwise i forget it quite quickly, and am just left with the feeling of having read a good book, and i linger on some scenes, but mainly imagine all the cool stuff in the Harry Potter world, and things i could add in a book of my own.
