http://www.10news.com/news/14388572/detail.htmlIt's so weird how only 4 years ago, the same catastrophe happened in San Diego. I was a senior in high school and back then, we were living by the beach, and the fires were not a threat to our home .
Four years later, I am 8 hours away from it all and my family is just miles from it. At this point, Eastlake/Chula Vista is under voluntary evacuation. My mom called me this evening to tell me that they evacuated to my sister's house in Imperial Beach. I hope the fire does not reach Eastlake, I doubt it will. It just sucks knowing that I cannot do anything about it because of where I am but then again, so can't they. I just want to be there to see that they're ok.
It's weird to think what you would bring if you felt a fire was going to come through and destroy your home. My mom said she packed all the important documents (soc. cards/birth certificates) and pictures. She asked me if I could think of anything I wanted her to take. I told her all my year books, pictures and I don't know why but I remembered my flute that's been collecting dust under my bed for the past 8 years or so. haha!
What would you bring if you had to evacuate your home knowing there's a slight chance it will be destroyed?
Regardless of what my mom took for me, I just want all of my family to be safe. I know my grandma and uncle have evacuated and possibly my aunt who lives 5 minutes from us. I know they're safe where they're at now but now lets just hope the winds stop feeding this disaster.
To all my friends in San Diego or are from SD, I hope you and your families are safe and well. ♥
