Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows....finally!

I finally got my hands on the last book of Harry Potter at the library here no less! Gulp it up in three bites. It is....a disappointment I suppose, yet I can't say I have been expecting more. In the first few chapters, I remember why I got disillusioned by this series. Harry Potter is way too self-centred and well, hero shipped for my liking. It's irritating how they go on and on about what an idol he is in the wizarding world and how it's not of his choice/suffer under it etc. >.>

And I was reminded again of my memory gap on HOW Harry and Ginny suddenly have this mutual attraction. Well, if Rowling wants to pair them up, she should have started from The Chamber of Secrets. But from that book, and what I remember subsequent ones, Harry had make it clear he felt nothing for Ginny...So..umm, it'll be good for someone to refresh my memory. I dislike how everyone has to pair up, especially for Ron and Hermione, I mean...sometimes it's better to have friendship you know? It makes the whole story feel so...happily-ever-after(the epilogue does not help a bit). Yeah, I was expecting something much more dark and sininster given her(Rowling) warnings before this. But it wasn't good in my opinion. The first few books were good, but later on...it drags, and I feel that she has been to absorb in the writing - like writing for the sake of writing. And she tries to make the characters (especially Harry) well, too goody-good for my taste. I think the best ending she could have gave is for Harry to die...sigh. Why did he needs to come back to life?! What's with the special treatment...*complains* Lily didn't came back to life when she died for him. >.>

Snape is nicely portrayed...He's probably much more of a hero than Harry in all ways. The everlasting(literally!) love he has for Lily, it's not those dramatic and needs-to-be-said adolescent love that's shown by that of Ginny's and Harry's. I was really impressed, and wish that his death was more emphasized and credited for. =( Dumbledore on the other hand...his all knowingness irks me a little. I suppose Rowling tries to make up for it by his childhood, but it...didn't work for me. And I think I've probably said this for the earlier books as well, though I can understand that a totally evil person can exist and needs no reason to be evil, I can't help but feel unfair for Tom Riddle aka Lord Volemort. It feels so one-sided, this good verus evil/bad battle, I just feel that given his background, he could have been flesh out more, and people can potentially sympathize with what he's doing.

All in all, I can only think of it as overrated pop children's fiction.
