Fun day
Sometimes I go driving with Laura's boyfriends mum, she owns 5 shire horses and drives them. On Saturday she's guesting at a big agricultural show and I'm going as her groom for the day so we had a trial run this morning. Usually when I get there the horses are already in, but I was early today so went with her to fetch them, didn't realise it was going to require riding them back! Now I've ridden most of my life, but these guys are way out of my comfort zone, I'm so used to Seb who is barely 13.1hh and on the slender side, whereas Polly who I rode this morning (with no saddle!) stands at just under 17.hh and Magnus who I led is over 18hh, they are huge, huge horses, LOL.
Me and my little man at the weekend on a visit to the pub! I loved ridng the big ones this morning, but give me a pony any day of the week! Took him to the riding club today and had some wonderful gallops, nothing like it for blowing the cobwebs away.
Laura's been learning to drive and has her test in a few weeks, she has enough money to buy herself a little car, but OMG! the cost of insurance is horrific, I just don't see her being able to afford it for some time, feel so sorry for her, she's desperate for her independence. Quite how they think 17yr olds can afford £3500 for a years insurance I really don't know.
It's been a lovely little holiday, one I desperately needed, was getting very stressed at work, it's been strange working days instead of nights and getting to know a whole new bunch of people and ways of doing things. No break now until August!
