Oh my gosh!
How much do I love Vista Print!!!
Wednesday afternoon, Michelle came over and took a picture of me and My Darling with Suki The Puppy. Late that night, I perused the cards at Vista Print, uploaded the photo, and placed the order, about 1:00 in the morning. (YAWN) I paid for 7-day shipping, knowing the order would probably arrive before its specified date of December 20th. I didn't want to pay $45 for guaranteed three-day!
So, today I got an email saying my order had shipped! I checked the tracking, and sure enough, the order was picked up from VistaPrint at 5:00 yesterday evening, and left the facility in MI this morning at 8:30. Whoa. That is some seriously fast work!
Oh, and this isn't your dinky little 10 or 20 card order. I have 212 labels prepared. And postage bought. Last year I ordered 250 cards, because my list was about 180, and you can get 100, or 250, and it would have been rather more expensive to get 100 twice, so we wasted about 70 cards. This year, I won't waste more than 20! Whew!! Reason is, I got a lot of addresses for the wedding. So, that's good! :-D
Anyway. Yesterday I bought the ingredients for my holiday baking. 10 pounds of flour, 8 pounds of dark brown sugar, 4 pounds of granulated sugar, 6 pounds of butter, 2 jars molasses, 2 cans sweetened condensed milk, 1 jar dark karo, a dozen eggs, spices and whatnot.
I make 60 dozen cookies. I've been doing it forever, and pretty much have it down to a science. Today is pre-measure day. And if I get my butt off the computer and get that done, I may even mix today & bake tomorrow. Otherwise, it's mix tomorrow and bake on Sunday. The mixing and baking are very time consuming, so I've found that I simply *can't* do them on the same day. I figured out the wonderfulness of pre-measuring one year when my mixer burned up on me and I had to take all the ingredients to a friend's house to use her mixer. Now I do it as a matter of course! SOOO much easier & faster. Especially when you are making four triple batches of very stiff cookie dough.
I'm also going to make Deadly Caramels, and Candied Citrus Peel.
...just as soon as I get off the computer and stop PROCRASTINATING!!!
