When I arrived at the hospital today, Mom was just finishing her lunch of pot roast, rice, & green beans.
In other words, she is 1. back on solid food, and 2. actually eating most of it!
This is extremely good news!
Also her bandage only needs changing once a shift, as the awful drainage has slowed almost completely.
This is also extremely good news.
While I was there, her surgeon's partner came in and looked at her bandage & declared her "ready to go home!"
What will actually happen is that on Monday they will move her to St Joseph Manor for some skilled nursing until her incision is totally healed. After that, we are back to deciding if she can go home for a bit or go straight into assisted living. It's unlikely that she can go home, but possible, with help. The assisted living we want her in (Crestview) has quite a waiting list, but we are on it, and hopeful.
They did move her room so that they could keep a closer eye on her. She is, as always, confused about where she is, but friendly and amenable. She is feeling much better, and mostly bored, so if you are in town, any and all visitors this weekend would be great!
